Hi everyone so my question is obvious but let me give you some background. I am in the final sprint of my pre-reqs before I start applying to programs this summer, I have two boys ages 3 and 5 that are for the lack of a better word RAMBUNCTIOUS and very loud and it is very difficult to keep them calm and quiet when we get home each day. Now obviously I focus a lot of study time on the two days I am ON campus but I need more than that and don't know what to do. My grandmother lives with us and she tries to keep up with them but lets be real, two young guns vs an old grey mare lol. Anyway I have played with the thought of leaving the house on weekends to focus better while I am studying and just wanted to know if any of you have any tips or tricks you use at home that could help? Thanks!

I have a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old. I'm in my first semester of clinicals in an ADN program. I study at night, after they are asleep, starting at 8:30 or 9 and go until at least midnight. I also go on campus early at least once a week. My Tuesday night class starts at 6, but I go in at 1. My husband gets my older daughter off the bus that day. If I have a test coming up, I also go out of the house on his days off for a few hours. I utilize the school library, Barnes & Noble, Panera, etc. Someplace other than at home. I love my girls, but I can't get any studying done with them around.

I spent many hours at Panera Bread while pursuing my nursing degree! I have 3 children and studying at home was all but impossible. I had to get out of the house so that I could focus and give my undivided attention to my studies!
Thanks guys I'm glad to know other people have had to deal with this.
My two youngest children are twins, and they were 3 when I graduated with my associate's degree. As Sizzline stated, I love my kids dearly, but they made studying at home very difficult! 12 years ago in LPN school, I was childless and didn't have to worry about all of the distractions!

I go to the county library which is very close to me. It definitely helps to study. I also go early to school to study.
That's a good idea! Ours isn't too far from me maybe ten mins up the road

Mom of 2 boys also. Leave the house. Treat studying like a job. Schedule it into your calender and into your daily routine. I also started getting up early. That was kind of tough because I went to bed shortly after they did but I didn't study well once they were asleep because I was too tired. I would get up at 5, hang out for 30 minutes to wake up and then study for an hour and a half before they got up. And whenever I knew I had someone to watch them for an hour or two (DH's days off, grandma was available) I left for 1-2 hours and studied. Good luck!

I have an 8 month old and a 3 year old (both girls) so I can study with them around either, but I am also not fortunate enough to leave the house other than days I have class. With that being said, I can only leave 30 minutes early for school because my husband and I schedules conflict. I utilize those extra 30 minutes on school days, then I study when they take their naps, but mostly after they go to bed. My 8 month old goes to bed at 7:00pm and my 3 year old goes to bed at 8:00pm, then I stay up studying until 11:30pm.

I have a 1 year old and I'm trying to finish up my pre req's before next summer. What helps me is weekends, because my son will go to his grandmother house or dad for the weekend. I use that time to study and get all of my work done. I also work PT and go to school full time, so the weekends are my best bet of getting the work done. Or after class or before class I might go to the library or study hall for about a hour, just to get study a bit.

I really need to figure out a good system also as I have 6 kids ages 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 18 and yes the older ones are just as noisy sometimes, but the two youngest are CRAZY! (boys) lol I am trying to get into the LVN program and worry about being able to study and do all of my homework efficiently.
