Is cipro used that often to treat strep throat? Maybe this should be in a different thread.. but I think my hubby and I have it...My daughter just finished her atb...just asking...thanks
That seems kind of interesting considering that a portion of those allergic to penacillin are also allergic to cephalosporins due to cross-reactivity.
Or maybe not. It looks like what I learned about this in my pharmacology class may be wrong.

Cipro sounds odd to use for strep throat. I had to use it once last spring when I stepped on a rusty nail and had to get a Tetnus shot and be put in Cipro in case of infection.
Let me tell you. I will never again use Cipro for anything. It made me so sick. About 10-15 minutes after I would take it my heart would race and I would get light headed and dizzy and sweaty. I quit using it about 3 days into a 10 day supply. I'd rather take me chances with an infection.
My uncle is a chemical engineer for Bayer, the makers of Cipro. He said that it was originally designed to be administered to animals and they didn't change a whole lot about the drug when they started making it for humans. He said he'd never take it.
