strange message on my answering machine talks about Green Card

Published

It says, "if you are RN working under TNV or green call please call this admissions number, don't repond if you are not a RN or a naturalized citizen". Who ever it is does NOT identify themselves or name the agency they are associated with. Sounds like they are up to no good to me. I have no intention of responding but am curious as to what is going on with this business. PS I am not sure the letters are TNV but it sounds like he said TNV

Sounds like a telemarketer to me

I got the same message yesterday. I deleted it. But I am curious as to what their motives are. Are they real? Are they legal?

Specializes in NICU.

No Caller ID number? We find it very helpful.

Probably TN visa. It's the type of visa allowed under NAFTA for Canadian and Mexican nurses to work in the US.

the caller ID says "unavailable" but the person gave a number to call

It does sound like telemarketing. The boards sell their lists right? Sounds like somebody is playing the visa angle for a buck or three.

How about this senario? A recruiter for agency knows that people working on green cards or under TN visas are sometimes nervous about their work status. So this person takes advantage of the situation and gets people to return his call by mentioning green cards in his message. He then makes them a pitch to work for his agency. Just brain storming but there was something about the situation that seems shaky.

Specializes in Mostly LTC, some acute and some ER,.

That sounds really fishy to me.

The problem with that is if a nurse is in the country on a TN visa, the visa itself is tied to that particular job. When they want to change jobs they have to redo all that paperwork to switch. I would guess it could also be an immigration attorney type thing.

I smell telemarketer.

Here's an idea, call your local tv station consumer reporter and have them check it out. Our local reporter loves getting tips to go after those dogs. See what happens.
