Hi all,
Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.
I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

When I was at my interview, the interviewers told us that we need to make sure we have a means of transportation for clinicals as we can be placed anywhere from Manhattan to Riverhead. You cannot request to change your location or put in a preference on where you would like to be. =/

Completely blown away. Never lose hope!
Thanks everyone for all the invaluable info, and I wish you all the best.
Congratulations, @NurseDan! May I ask why you prefer Downstate over Stony Brook?

I wouldn’t have to move back home, LOL, and I believe I would perform better in a 15 month vs a 12 month program. Also, Downstate’s in the heart of diversity, and I believe being trained within a medically and culturally diverse patient population will only play to my advantage - I think it will help expose me to a lot which could help me become a better advocate for patients and their surrounding loved ones.
At the end of the day, these two programs are literally the cream of the crop - so I guess it comes down to just personal preference.

Thank you!! I'm deciding between the two programs and I agree re: diversity and the 15-month program. We'll see what I decide! I wish there were more opportunities to visit the programs.

@NurseDan That's awesome. This is my next hope. I am finishing my application because they extended the deadline. Did you have a physical interview? How did you do on the TEAS? (if you don't mind me asking!)
Thanks! ?
