Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

dr3amygirl- im trying to control my SOLAR checking lol. It shows everything as received except for my recommendations which I know are all in. It also says my transcripts were received on the 11/3 which is impossible. I know everything is there but I will be happy when it actually says everything is there!

So I checked SOLAR... aaaaand... my transcripts show as being received, but the recommendations are not showing as being received even though on the application page I can see the dates and times that all 3 were submitted. I'm guessing they just haven't gotten around to showing that they have been officially received on SOLAR?

so i tried not to check SOLAR today but i cant help it... i know i know i knoww that i wont hear anything until january... but this waiting process is killing meee... i think i need something to distract meee lol

Ahh there always one school that makes you wanna burn them down! well i only needed one transcript and i gave it to them in person... even tho is says received on 11/3/2010 which is not true... = =" but yea my other one was from stony brook so they just pull it out for me, i didnt have to request :D

definitely call them up and rushh them!!! chem is a major prereq!! good luckk :)

All my transcripts show as received on 11/3 as well. I remember them telling me last year that this date does not matter, as long as your application itself was submitted by the deadline you are OK. They get TONS of transcripts and it takes weeks for them to get them inputted as received. I am glad however that I faxed before the deadline the unofficial transcripts from those schools I was told were missing.

I actually had an extra sealed official transcript on hand from that still-missing school and on Thurs I mailed it to SB (with tracking, I am no fool :lol2: ) ... I had this extra one because I was saving it for another program that requires me to send in all my official transcripts and recommendations in one package. I hope that will do it. Now I will have to reorder one to replenish it. But what I did was print the page on SOLAR which shows that an official was not received and I am mailing that registrar a copy so I am hoping I can get another one for free (it's $3 but I think it's more about principle). I called them a couple of weeks ago, and they said it was mailed mid-Sept. That should have arrived at SB by now, especially when it's another NY school! Geez!

OK, I know checking SOLAR right now is a novelty, but seriously (and this goes for everyone who is doing the same): once you see that all your transcripts and recommendations are IN, find something else to occupy your time. Things are not going to move any faster if you keep checking SOLAR, it becomes mentally taxing and with the holidays approaching, it can really ruin things. Trust me I know. Once I find out this last official transcript is in, I am forgetting about SOLAR until mid-January, which is the earliest that things will start happening. For once, I would like to have a great holiday! :candycane: Then again, you can always come here and obsess :D ...

good to know that the dates are just something not important lol and you send it with tracting too haha i brought in my in person because i was afraid what happened to you would happen to mee!! some schools are just unreliable sometimes...

and for SOLAR, i haven't checked it for the past 2 days lol i think im doing fine!! =D and my christmas vacation just got approved so now im spending time planning a trip lol no time for SOLAR now :D

YAY, sending that last official transcript in was worth the effort, now everything on SOLAR for me is showing official and received, printed that page and filed it away... now I can rest my SOLAR login urges until January ... :D Good luck everyone!!

Zee, were those 2 recommendations showing on your application as submitted when you submitted it? You should go back in the application and check the status through there. If not submitted, check with your recommenders.

Before I sent my application all of my reccomendations were in. The person who's recommendation was in first is the one that is showing up on my SOLAR page right now. The other 2 say not received, I guess they are still updating things but if I don't see anything soon I will call just to check on it.

I hopped on SOLAR and finally got all my documents showing as received today. Looks like it's just taking a while! Cheers to everyone applying. Stay positive! :)

haha zee, i havent checked my solar for a wholeee weeek!! :)

just don't wanna think about it until january hits!! and im planning a trip for christmas vacation!! so i guess i`ll be distracted for a while :D

just curious, where's everyone from? I'm from California. If I get in, I would be leaving my husband for a year to do the program! Am I crazy?? :confused:

You're definitely not crazy. If your husband is cool with it, you can get through it!

I'm in FL, but I'm originally from NY ... looking to go back! :D
