ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
Any accelerated program you do you will barely see your husband despite your location and I think youre far from crazy for wanting the best education that will ultimately benefit you both in the future!
All of my transcripts and letters of rec show as received, but one is showing up as unofficial (i work here so i brought unofficial copies directly to them to ease my nerves of them not getting received, apparently i am lucky i did!) but does anyone know if theres a deadline for "official" transcripts to be in? I can go in and ask but I'm pretty sure they think im nuts with the amount of times I've gone down there. haha

I had the same issue with one of my transcripts, and I went ahead and mailed them a sealed copy I was saving for another school I am applying to later on. It was changed to "official" the day after it was received. I don't know of an exact deadline per se for official transcripts, but I would guess ASAP is in order. I did not want this unofficial designation hanging over my head for too long!
erinmc0783-you will be fine, plus you are applying to schools in Cali so you can worry about that stuff once you know where you are accepted. One year is a small sacrifice to make in exchange for a great career. :)
paco69- I'm hanging in there. I'm happy because I checked SOLAR today and the rest of my recommendations finally show as being received! No SOLAR till January
alisson- You are supposed to get a SOLAR id soon after you send your application in. You might want to call and check on that.
Hey guys....I hope everyone is well. And no I haven't dropped off the face of the earth LOL...I've been so busy with exams and assignments.
Paco -- I cannot send you any emails because I have to send 15 posts before I can ...so in the meantime I'll just keep posting!
Does anyone know if the decisions are based on a rolling status? Meaning the earlier you send your application, the faster they will send out an acceptance letter? Or do they wait until all the applications are in and then decide? Just curious to know what the procedure is.
Also can anyone explain what calculus has to do with Nursing? I understand the importance of algebra...but calculus??? LOL!!!
And to everyone who has sent in your applications: TRY NOT TO STRESS!!! Once it has been sent in, there is absolutely nothing you can do, it's in the hands of those who believe that you may be a good candidate. So there's no use stressing about it and increasing the amount of grey hairs!!! LOL...Stay positive nevertheless.
Any type of math increases your ability to think logically and tests you on that ability. I took calc 1 and 2 and it definitely tests your logic skills which is something you need when learning any science. But why do you ask? I didn't think it was a pre-req
Sorry Cas...I was being sarcastic. No it is not a pre-req but it is a co-req with my chemistry class. I'm not doing bad, it's just a pain in the butt!!! It has been 12 years since I last took Calculus (Paco should understand this! LOL). Furthermore, I'm taking it at Stony Brook, and if you haven't heard, their science and math classes are very challenging. I think it's much like a weeding out process for those who think they can handle pre-med lol.

dr3amygirl- sounds like you have a plan!
erinmc0783- I'm in NY. If you get into the program here I'm sure it will be hard leaving your husband but you would be really busy so it would be over before you know it. A few visits throughout the year should help too. Are you applying to any schools in California?
