ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
I know how Y'all feel, I had income tax day in my head so I would be pleasantly surprised if the news comes earlier... but its not working! I was at the campus yesterday with my oldest to watch a women's lacrosse game (she's an alum), just made me hope all the more that I get the chance to continue my education there... time will tell I guess.
PACO, any final word on your program choice? I seem to recall that you were still wrestling with some choices a few weeks back.
Thankfully, the deadline to finalize all this is looming so I will come to a decision soon. Good luck with the 2-year program decision!! :)
Thanks Paco! Let us know what you decide. (chanting...Stony! Stony! Stony! )
I'm still here, waiting! I've actually been up to Stony Brook Hospital almost every day visiting a friend who is very sick. She is getting such great treatment there and I can't wait to be learning it all!!!!!
Sorry to hear about your friend but I'm glad they are treating her well. Hopefully we'll be in there soon helping out too!
im a 2-yr hopeful!! and its killing me! everyday i check solar and tell myself how much i hate SB for making this such a painful experience lol
LOL it's been a painfully slow wait.
I'm still waiting to hear from the 2 year program as well, not so patiently. Knowing that we'll find out so soon, but not knowing exactly when is hard. I've got my eyes on the first week in April, although who knows they did only say the "beginning of April". Hopefully sooner than later.
I guess they learned from the one year program not to give an exact date they can't live up to. At least they are saying the beginning of April now, when I called a while back they told me it would be "sometime in April".
I'm still here! I really hate this waiting...But hopefully we will hear good news soon!
.....:anbd:
I know I haven't been active on this thread....but I too am waiting and it's dreadful!!! I know they said early April, but what does that mean? First week, second week.....aaarrrrggghhh......Paco....I now understand the anxiety level!! I think I need that wine!!! LOL...
Bring on the wine!

Sigh, let's hope next time you go to Stony Brook you won't be a visitor on campus!
The admissions office at the Health Science Center told me early April when I called, and they're the ones making the decisions. I guess only time will tell though.
It's the School of Nursing faculty that is making the decisions. The Office of Student Affairs only processes the applications. I was told the beginning of April is when decisions are going to be sent out via Solar and through the mail (assuming later than Solar). But if people are hearing different things.....you're right time will only tell....but it really is nerve-wracking!!! I'm wondering how many people applied....maybe that's why it's taking so long??
Just to let you know that that I received a FAFSA correction request from my school, saying (question #29) should be answered as 5TH YEAR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT.
Sorry I may have given you wrong information ... I did complete my 2010-2011 FAFSA last year and I entered 2nd Bachelors and noted I would be a junior
... I did not get any correction requests. Then again, I don't think anyone ended up looking at my FAFSA anyway considering I did not finalize any school decisions. I do have to work on my 2011-2012 soon!

*wine ... There it is!

We're STILL wrestling! It's between 2 schools now: Stony Brook and UCF. But the choice is getting easier and easier by the day. In the end, I will be satisfied to know that I have made a thoroughly informed decision. I have committed myself to a decision by THIS FRIDAY!! After all, I have to: something is happening this Friday that basically determines do or die between deciding on either school.
Thanks Paco! Let us know what you decide. (chanting...Stony! Stony! Stony!)

Keep chanting, it might work. LMAO! .... oh yes, here is your wine!! *wine

Basically, I believe this is true - yes. From my review of the posts from Stony Brook ABSN applicants for the class starting in 2009, they got their decisions sometime @ Christmas. They have been releasing decisions later and later since. This year decisions came through mid-Feb for us. There were more applicants than prior years, this we were told via email. I have to assume this is the same for the traditional program, which in essence admits more than the ABSN, no?
hey everyone.. i'm on the alternate list for stony brook absn program and am just curious as to how the whole thing will work. someone mentioned that last year 6 people didn't show up on the first day of class and alternates were then called.
once accepted, you have a certain number of days to submit a pretty small deposit, correct? that deposit will then hold your spot until class starts and payment for the first summer session is due? i’m assuming that the full payment isn’t due until class begins?
just wondering if many people pay the deposit to hold their spot while they make their final decisions…
