Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

Hello All!

Congrats to everyone who found out that they were accepted!

I am still waiting to see any changes on my SOLAR page. Trying to stay positive here....but I'm very, very nervous.

I'm hoping that if I don't get into the accelerated program, perhaps I'll be accepted into the 2-year program instead. I could do either one, but would rather do the year and get it DONE!!

Again, congrats to everyone and I have my fingers crossed for all of us that haven't heard yet!

Aw Zee :crying2: ... I am disappointed to hear that ... but don't EVER give up! You want to be a nurse, you WILL be a nurse. I was waitlisted last year and I did not get in, I tried again. If it's not Stony Brook, it will be another school meant for you. Positive vibes your way!! :hug:

Thanks Paco! Although I'm pretty disappointed I'm still holding out hope for the 2 year program. I really want to go to Stony Brook and I wanted everyone on here to be my classmates. If I end up going here I hope at least get to see you guys around the school.

To everyone waiting I just got an email about a 30 min ago telling me a decision has been made(even though i already found out on SOLAR yesterday). Check your email/SOLAR and hang in there. Good Luck!

Hi everyone! I just got accepted yesterday to the Accelerated Nursing Program at Stony Brook, and came across this thread, so I thought I'd join. . does anyone know anything about the deposit that due? it says on my SOLAR that its $200 for some kind of summer housing.. .what if we are not living on campus?

No new tabs on my solar account. Did all of you that got accepted get emails as well? I'm confused...and getting impatient!

I did not receive an email, just a new tab under Student Admission that states "Admission Decision Response" I had nothing early on this morning, it took until later this afternoon. For those checking during the wee hours of the morning, I doubt there is anyone updating SOLAR at that time, at least that's what I figured so I stopped checking then. I would say keep checking between business hours. :uhoh3:

I got the email @ 430pm yesterday ... but I had checked SOLAR @ 10am so I knew before the email.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so so happy for you, you really deserve this acceptance. I never had a doubt in my mind for one sec regarding your acceptance, because good things surely follow good people. I have been very very busy with teaching this semester, and today I just decided to check the thread and I found joy and happiness all over. This is a very good news, am so elated you got in, and am so proud of you. Congrats again, and I really wish you well in your decision making, since you have a concern regarding the finances. But it could be nice if you decide eventually to go to SBU, you cant just abandon all your thread crew just like that lol!!! Even I was thinking I might be lucky to meet you in NYC before leaving for Boston, and am sure everyone is looking forward to meeting the founding father of the thread, with the admiring personality. Anyway, congrats also to all those who got accepted, and those still awaiting decision I wish you good luck. Am going to check my solar now to see if i have anything in there, just to check for the fun of it.

You're so sweet, marinoh - thank you! Just because we will be in different schools does not mean we have to say goodbye!! We are all connected with through this experience, and with the internet we can remain connected forever despite distance. I know you'll be in Boston, so if I am in town I will let you know! There is a freaking awesome Brazilian restaurant in Cambridge called Muqueca that I am dying to revisit :D

While I am happy that I didn't get a definitive no, I am sooo anxious to have an answer. It seems that LY the people who got the first responses were accepted through solar and those who did not have any changes to solar were on the alternate list. I am hoping that those of us who have not seen any changes yet are on the short list of alternates so we have a decent chance of getting a spot. In order to stay positive I am thinking that if we don't have a definitive answer it is because SBU is waiting for the first round of students to give them a decision before telling us we are alternates...I am going crazy, right?:eek::nuke:

I am at SB every Thursday volunteering, and I see groups of students who look like they may be in the nursing program- I just can't wait to be one of them!!!
