ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
I had already taken a 3 credit nutrition course and they would not accept it, partly bc it was not nursing nutrition and also something to do with the amount of credits u need to earn from stony brook to earn a degree. But fo the nursing courses it couldn't help to ask, but I highly doubt it.
congrats to everyone who got in! :yelclap: unfortunately mine says nothing still, im wondering how theyre posting it..maybe alphabetical order? idk but im terrified. Hoping they wont wait too much longer :uhoh21:
I've been lurking on this thread for a while now and figured it was finally time to activate my account and post! It is really wonderful to see such a supportive and fun thread going on here. First off, congratulations to all who have been accepted! For those who are still waiting, hang in there! :)
kristenann - I was wondering the same thing as well about alphabetical order...I'm at the end of the alphabet and have not seen any changes in Solar yet. I've been trying not to go too crazy with the Solar checking, but I can't help it! Anyway, good luck to you and everyone else! :)
Congrats to all that have gotten in so far! I totally remember being in your shoes last year... obsessively waiting for acceptance letters in the mail... trying to figure out if it was alphabetized or if there was a secret code/method to their madness. I'm currently in the accelerated program w/ dfgo & Mellie, and I'm sure if you needed any other info., we'd be glad to share (as they already have). I had to check up on you guys b/c they informed me that you were getting the infamous "solar tabs" ... fun. As for PACO... had to give a big shout out, b/c we were in this same boat last year together, & I'm so very happy you made it... I know you'll be from out-of-state, but don't let that deter you from making the big trip over. It's definitely an adventure... I made the trek out from California, & as much as I miss my friends & family, I do not regret my decision whatsoever. I've made awesome friends & time is flying by! Good luck to everyone & hope to see you in the Summer!
Hey everyone, I got my decision today. I dont think its alphabetical because Iam not in the beginning of the alphabet. Also, I gave in my application on this last day so it cant be in the order that they received it. However, I attend SBU for my first degree so did they look at previous SBU students first? Whatever it is, I hope and wish the best for you all. I heard that ppl have to give their decisions within 5-10 days, but do you have to give in a deposit too?

I'm also towards the end of the alphabet (P) and sent it my application on the last day.. whoops.. I didnt attend SB for my first degree.. Not trying to discourage anyone, I just know I'd wanna know ALL the info if I was still waiting.. Trust me the anxiety and the stress waiting for this decision almost killed me, so I totally understand for those still waiting.. I hope you ALL get in, I'd love to be classmates with all of you, since everyone on this thread seems so wonderful
xtine: i'd love to know how you feel the workload is.. i've always had a job while i was taking college classes, and i know that this program is obviously a lot more intense and a lot more work, im curious as to how you have found the program to be.. any input would be helpful.. also if you're living off campus, which i plan to do, how did you go about finding a house/apartment/roommates? thanks! good luck to everyone still waiting!!

I was planning on taking human bionutrition, which is 4 credit science w/lab course as my 5th science and hoping I'd get credit for nutrition too .. I think the nutrition course for SB is only 2 credits.. hopefully they are willing to transfer in those credits, but if not at least we have a background in the subject and can just breeze thru the class
