Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

I spoke with someone in the admissions office today, they said letters wouldn't go out until February. Sorry to add more confusing information to this thread. Hopefully, solar will be updated sooner. This is making me crazy.

I am glad someone found the humor in that ... :D I shudder to think how many fainting spells and blood pressure spikes I caused by people that did not carefully read the post!!

Well thanks for the info! I am now assuming that there were a LOT more applicants this year than ever before. Someone a while back posted that in 2008 the decisions arrived by Christmas Eve and last year I got my letter by late January. So we wait a little while longer .... oh well, *sigh* ... :anbd:

So even though I clearly read that you said it was a test, my heart skipped a beat for a minute and I wanted to check SOLAR. Bad Paco LOL. I, like you, am waiting till someone on here actually says they saw something change on SOLAR before I start checking. I've been good so far I don't want to start obsessing.

LMAO! :D I thought this thread could use some comic relief!! :) Good for you for not checking SOLAR like a maniac. I have convinced myself that checking every day is not going to make it happen any faster. Whatever is in store for me will be waiting for me.

Fellow 69er, it's not an exact date from what I can see. So don't set yourself up for disappointment if nothing happens that day - could happen sooner or later. Besides, an acceptance or denial is not "announced" on SOLAR, there are just indicators on how the website layout changes that may give you a clue on SBU's decision.

I expected to hear from Miami by now but nothing yet. I am not expecting to hear anything from the other 2 schools to which I applied besides SBU until mid Feb at least. It's Jan 10, so I really am not going to sweat it too much. The decisions come when they come. I am trying very hard to not be as obsessive and stressed out about SOLAR as I was this time last year, so far I am doing well, it's been 2 months today :eek: since I logged into SOLAR. Besides, I have enough work on my end to keep me busy!! :D

OK, so someone on another thread mentioned that there was email on SOLAR where they will possibly alert us about admissions decisions. I had no idea that there was such a thing so the curiosity got the better of me and I broke down and logged in to check ... :eek:

YES! I broke my 2-month streak and checked freaking SOLAR. Shoot me now :(

Bad Paco ... bad bad Paco ... :nuke:

But I will justify it by saying that my reason for logging in was to see where this email thing was. I suppose they were talking about the Message Center on the left, which in my case had No Messages. Oh and nothing looked different than the last time I logged in. I did however take the opportunity to double check that all my documents were still showing as received and they are. Might as well. Everything still OK. And I did notice that my application from last year has disappeared. Only this one is there. Logoff!

Won't be checking anymore until necessary!

I called the admissions office about a week ago because of a transcript snaffoo, and the woman I talked with said that our admissions decisions would be released on SOLAR in late january, just to confirm what you've read ;)

Thanks mef ... perhaps they are doing things differently this year, that they are proactively using SOLAR for this now. So no need to start checking SOLAR for a couple more weeks. I mean it's already the 11th :eek: ... the month will FLY by!

Good luck to you as well ... we are patiently waiting along with you ... :anbd: ... should be a couple more weeks. I'm just waiting to see how much pandemonium is going to set in soon. Who will be the first to start freaking out that we will have to slap, like they do in the movies? :lol2:

How did I deal with the stress of waiting today? I applied to an ADN program today (LMAO) ... notice my signature how my count went to 5 now. I'm neurotic about having plan A and B in place. I just CANNOT return to my present job next year!! I just can't ... I will go apesh*t!

Well, this major snow storm has closed down the school tomorrow, so I doubt they will be processing anyone's applications. :snowflake:
