Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.
Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

Same here. I was looking into volunteering a few months ago, but the pandemic ruined that for me. Hopefully it doesnt hurt us too much
@dellr48 @freddyJ620 I’m part of the Pre-Nursing Society at Stony Brook, and at the meeting we had the other week, someone voiced the same concern to the School of Nursing admissions coordinator. She’s completely aware that opportunities to volunteer are very slim for the time being, and said not volunteering won’t hurt your chances of getting in. She also said that students have been accepted with no medical experience in past years. So as long as your cumulative and pre-requisite GPAs are good first and foremost, you don’t need to worry. ?

Oh that's awesome to hear! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm glad that not being able to volunteer this year won't hurt applicants as much as we feared.
I actually just found out that because of the timing of my third science pre-requisite (it won't be completed by the application deadline, just in progress), I am not eligible to apply to Stony Brook's ABSN program this year. Best wishes to everyone applying!! ?

Biggest sigh of relief ever! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Now I can be at ease haha

I still have 2 left I am afraid it might hurt my chances.
As long you have 3/4 of the science prerequisites done, I think you’ll be fine! I’m taking Human Physiology this semester and Statistics in the Spring, then I’m done!
hey guys!
I've been lurking for a bit and wanted to introduce myself. I'm also applying for the ABSN program. A bit late in the game as I am still working on my personal statement (it's done but currently being read over) and I have all my recommendations in place. Good luck everyone! ❤️

Hi! Me too I am only halfway done for the statement, do you know what we can write about for the how nursing can improve global healthcare part? so stuck on that.
I still haven't submitted my application yet. I'm still revising my essay. One of my recommenders let me know he completed my letter of recommendation and submitted it. Does anyone know if this is an issue considering I didn't technically submit my application yet? Will he need to resubmit?
If anyone has an email that I can to reach out to about this, that would be great!
Just now, nc29 said:Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the recommendations. The recommendations page says it can still be updated after we submit the application. Does that mean that I can add recommenders after October 3rd? Also, do my recommenders have to upload the letters by october 3rd?
All your letters should be submitted by the recommenders you requested them from by October 3rd in order for your application to be considered for admission this year. I believe in previous years, they gave students about 10 extra days after the deadline to have their letters submitted, but I would ask them if they’re still doing that this year! But after October 3rd, I’m pretty sure you can’t add or change anything.
