Stethoscope engraving?

Published

I'm planning on buying my first stethoscope soon and I want to get it engraved. I want the engraving to remind me why I want to be a nurse, so every time I look at it I'll see it. But with a 20-character limit that's kind of hard. Everything I would like to put is way longer than 20 characters. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you :)

So why do you want to be a nurse?

I want to be a pediatric oncology nurse. I want to be a nurse because I want to be there for those kids and their families as they go through what is probably the toughest time in their lives. I want to do whatever I can to make them comfortable and help them get better. A big part of my decision to become a nurse is because I've had quite a few family members with cancer, and I've seen the difference a nurse can make.

What about BE THE DIFFERENCE! i think this summarizes what you are trying to say.

My personal everyday reminder.....EMBRACE THE JOURNEY

Enjoy that first stethoscope and keep close tabs on it. Stethoscopes in the hospital often grow legs and walk away (in the emergency department at least).

Enjoy your nursing journey! All my best to you!

Be the difference sounds perfect! Thank you :)

"Be the difference" won't get it returned to you when it gets boosted.

Use, like, your NAME. Put the inspirational message on the back of your badge or locker door.

"Be the difference" sounds great -- but I'd advise you to make sure your name is also on the stethoscope. Stethescopes -- especially nice ones -- seem to grow legs and walk off.

"Great minds" and all that!

I can get the head and tube engraved, so I'm planning on putting my name on the head and the saying on the tube.

Where are you getting it engraved? I've been looking for a place that does both.

Even though it's obvious, a gentle reminder that until you pass the NCLEX, you can't use RN (or LVN) to refer to yourself. So if you're planning to use this stethoscope at nursing school clinicals, you should leave off RN/LVN after your name on the engraving--it can always be added later. If you decide to do it anyway, you best keep that RN/LVN covered with tape while at clinical, and hope that tape stays on.

Or if you want this stethoscope to be a memento of your nursing school days, you can add SN (student nurse) after your name.

And yes, I have had to call out student nurses when they've showed up with "Student, RN" on their steths. Hence there's clearly still a need for gentle reminders about the obvious :)
