The Hill: Obama asserts executive privilege ahead of Holder contempt vote
QuotePresident Obama on Wednesday asserted executive privilege over documents sought by a House panel ahead of its vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.
It's the first time Obama has used executive privilege since taking office. A White House aide said the president had gone longer without asserting the privilege in a congressional dispute than any other president in the last three decades. The vote was to take place Wednesday after a last-ditch effort to reach a deal over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious failed on Tuesday night. Operation Fast and Furious was an anti-arms trafficking operation targeted two drug bosses who were already cooperating with the FBI. It allowed the sale of thousands of firearms to illegal purchasers in an attempt to trace gun-smuggling routes by Mexican drug gangs; guns were latter tracked to crimes committed in US, including death of border patrol agent.

Trump commuted and protected every loser, liar, manipulator, con-artist, and criminal that served on his campaign, gave his campaign money, or talked on Fox News or that White Nationalist brown shirt outfit, Newsmax, praising him and echoing his MAGA (Make America White Again) propaganda machine. Therefore, there is no past American president's behavior that is equivalent to Trump no matter what Tucker Carlson tells you.
Trump was/is a dictator and tyrant wannabe. Our US Constitution, our institutions that align with our democratic values, and those of us who actually believe in the US Constitution and our democratic institutions, stopped him and his cronies with our votes. Nothing else. No one else!
And since we are going off topic, let me just add that Trump lost the 2020 election! Also, Trump will not be re-instated because there is thankfully no such thing in our US Constitution.

Thank you, NRSKaren! I wasn't following politics and current events around 2012-13 as closely as I am now....but Operation Fast and Furious certainly rings a bell. Looks like a lot to dig into...

Are you suggesting that those that didn't vote for Mr. Biden don't "believe in the US Constitution and our democratic institutions?"

I think that millions of people don't understand or realize the gravity of the threat that Trump and his politics represent to the country. They voted for Trump while not realizing that Trump doesn't value our democracy, he values power.

Thank you. I agree that many on the rightu don't realize the gravity of the situation; however, and it seems to me that some (many) on the left are either unwilling or unable, to acknowledge the fact that many of us on the right do understand this. I posted this question to @SummerGarden as I am tired, again, of the posts being that include all on the right, conservative, and Republican in the same group and would like for her or him to clarify.
Still waiting on @SummerGarden to answer.
