Stephen Colbert gave a wonderful shout out to nurses at NYU Hospital on his TV show The Colbert Report on Wednesday October 31, 2012.
I'd like to single out some heroes, okay, like the nurses at NYU hospital. After the hospital generators failed, these nurses carried twenty newborns down nine flights of stairs wall manually operating respirators
You can find the video clip of his show here:

This portion of the show is around the 2:00 minute mark of the video.
Nurses, please post your thank you's and comments in this thread, we will do what we can to make sure he see's it. Like it, share it, tweet it, spread it! Give him some love back!
Stephen Colbert, thanks for the well deserved recognition of these amazing nurses during hurricane Sandy!
But more than anything, thanks to these heroic nurses! Thanks to nurses who do heroic things every shift and everyday!
FYI: we also shared this on our nurses rock facebook page here:

I added to my Tweet that CBS didn't even mention the word "nurse" or "nurses" in their coverage of the evacuation, saying that their consulting "doctor" was on the scene and "doctors and medical students" were doing the evacuations. Not once. Shame on them.

It's about time the true heroes get noticed. I watched ABC news and the nurses got most of the credit.

Anderson Cooper 360 just discussed this and interviewed one of the nurses involved, talking about all the care required.

Anderson Cooper also had one of the nurses on his daytime talk show "Anderson." It's truly nice to see nurses getting the recognition they deserve. Anderson Cooper actually touched on how it peeved him how the Doctors were getting the bulk of the praise - stating that the nurses were "Unsung Heroes."
