WOW!!!!

Just the thread I was looking for. I currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio and am considering moving to either Phoenix or Las Vegas. I was wondering if anyone had ever lived in LV and could tell me why you prefer one city over the other.

ALSO, if we move to phoenix we would need to live near the Univ., can anyone tell me what hospitals are near there...which ones to stay away from? Any general info would be greatly appreciated also...I am just starting my search so I have NO info on Phoenix and coming from Cincinnati i'm sure its totally different. Also, does anyone know if any of the hospitals in or around phoenix offer relocation assistance? I know a few do in LV.

oh btw I'll be a new grad Aug. 18th

You'd want to live somewhere in Tempe then ..... lots of great places around ASU. I live about 10 minutes from ASU and love it ..... great neighborhood and area. But you could find great places even closer than that if you wish.

GilbertDaddy mentioned a couple of hospitals. Banner Desert is another one that would be pretty close. Tempe St. Luke's is probably the closest one to ASU, but I've heard some negative things about it ...... not sure how credible it is though. It'd be worth checking out and talking with people.

And yes, it's a DRY heat here .... but so is the oven! And that is EXACTLY what it feels like here in July and August ....... when you open your front door on a July day, it will feel like you opened the oven door. No joke. I've lived here my entire life and while I love it ...... those July and August days can be unbearable sometimes. We all just hide out indoors and crank up the AC (to an extent, unless you want to pay $500 electric bill!) during those times. Even the pool is too hot on those days, it feels like bath water :)

But don't worry, 2 months of hell is worth the 10 months of great weather!

Awesome!! I have my first phone interview with St. Josephs, is it a bad commute from Tempe? Ill hopefully be working the night shift so maybe traffic wont be so bad.

As opposed to the UK where we get 10 months of hell (where we stay in doors and crank up the heating) and 2 months of good weather if we're lucky (and that's a generous estimate!)

Bring on the Oven - we can't wait. Anything's got to be better than here!!

Cheers

Takes 20 minutes to get to Joes from here. No traffic at night either.

Good luck with the interview!!

Wow, that bad of weather huh? Yeah I'm sure you'd love the weather here then!! As long as you won't miss the rain because we have NONE here! :chuckle We went 144 days with no rain and since then it's only rained about 2 days. Maybe we'll have a nice monsoon, I hope!

Traffic is always bad in and around Phoenix. Doesnt seem to matter what time of day, of course rush hours are the pits.

Traffic is never bad for me, coming from the east side to Phx, in the evening hours. I never have to wait in traffic. The only time I had to wait in traffic was when I had hospital orientation during the day ..... it took me 40-45 minutes rather than the normal 20 minutes. You couldn't pay me enough to work day shift and have to put up with that, no way!

At night though, all the traffic is going the other way :)

Miss the rain well not for the first 10 years at least. Rain update from wet, grey, wiindy south wales. Chldren have just gone back to school after the easter hols most of the two weeks were spent in side due to the cold wet weather when we did venture outside sebastian my four year old managed to step in dog sh*t and walk it through the house. Today it is raining and the skys are gray maybe some sunshine tomorrow.

Thanks! That puts my mind at ease! I am so impressed thus far. I have checked out their website and from the word around these forums I have not heard one bad thing about St. Joes.

Nobody in their right mind who is working at any hospital would say bad things about it on a web site as you never ever know who is reading your posts. It doesnt take much to work out, for example what floor/speciality does one work on and you've narrowed it down.

I for one would never say anything that would cause me problems as firstly I am from the UK so that narrows me down to 4 people on my floor. I have just started working there so that narrows it down to ONE
