I'm a native, too. Only I live down here in Tucson. I used to live in Florence :uhoh21: . Are you telling me that Queen Creek is close to becoming part of the PHX metro soon???

Heh, at this rate - TUCSON is coming close to being Phoenix metro :p

Im a native too. 31 years. This city is NOT the same city I grew up in. Theres no natives left because they all got frustrated with it here and left!

lol, I'm sure! I got fed up with it and moved to TX to go to school ..... smaller town, and actual FRESH air! I did miss the valley though, but it was good to get away for a bit. Too many people coming in, TOO MANY! It's insane at how fast it's growing. It's sad when you see what's happened to it, yet people continue to come!

Oh I know!:) That is true, we all make comments thinking that no one knows who we are but in all reality, like you said, it is pretty easy to narrow things down, even on a huge board like this.

So what area do you think would be the best to live in around St. Joe's? Im thinking about living in Tempe bc my fiencee will be going to ASU but i've heard bad things about the traffic in or around phoenix. Is there a decent neighborhood that I could live in between st. joes and ASU that wouldnt require much highway driving to either destination..ie backroads? We dont have to live within in walking distance from the university or anything.:monkeydance:

ha ha i love these new icons;)

You may want to try South Scottsdale area, too. It's close to ASU and not too far from downtown. I work right down the street from St. Joe's...and the drive is all surface streets and takes about 25 min. Not too bad. It's 15 min from ASU.

Thanks! I will check that out. What streets should I look for in that area, I mean just to give me an idea of where it is on the map. I have one of those apartment guide books so ive been looking in that.

The southern border of the area I would recommend is Indian School or Camelback, and the northern border would probably be McDonald (you don't want to go too far North because, although it is very nice, you will get farther away from work and ASU). Scottsdale is very long and narrow (North/South directions), so you don't need to worry about going too far East. Just to give you a place on the map, though, look at Hayden or Scottsdale roads as cross streets to the roads given above.

South Scottsdale is great for young, single people because it's very close to great restaurants and night life. There is also a great bike path that runs north/south through the city along some of its many public golf courses and parks. Rent can be a little pricey because it is in Scottsdale....however, I think it's worth it because of the safety and central location.

Check out the SE coast. We are thinking about moving to one of the suburbs around Charlotte. Its green, it rains, its affordable, and SMALL!

thats cool. so you are also a nurse. well, i am. starting a career here in america. im still waiting for the placement agency to finalize where but they offered me a job at st. joe's - i am currently in california and wondering what life would be in arizona. hehehehe -

Can I ask what recruiting agency did you used? I'm also looking for relocation and need some info. Thanks a lot.

Hello,

First I would like to say that this is a great thread as I was able to get much information so far about AZ. Me and my wife are looking into relocating to AZ or NV. She has already had 4 Interviews on the phone and getting ready to fly to both LV and AZ for face to face and to look around and check out areas. I have been doing a ton of research and from what I have found out so far is that AZ is cheaper with rental property as well as purchasing a home. AZ also has a better school system at least what I have seen by test scores. We are really leaning toward AZ because of those reasons. We have 2 children, 6 and 9 and would like to be in a family style neighborhood. My wife is a critical care nurse and I am an EMT/Firefighter. I have most of my prereqs done and want to go to nursing school. The reason we want to move now is tired of the snow, rain, high taxes, rude people,I could go on and on. We are just tired of Pennyslvania. My wife has interest from Good Sam, UMC, John C. lincoln, Thunderbird and there were 2 others that he had to get back to. The recruter was also talking about getting me into the ED as a tech.

We know that all workplaces have some dirt so to speak and not everyone is pleasant to work with and we can live with that. We just want to get an Idea about the quality of life. We would also like to find out about the nurse to pt. ratio, mandation of overtime, is there OT available, education opportunities, and any information that anyone could give us.

We are friendly and get along with most everyone and would like to be in an area like that. I love to BBQ and Drink beer so that part of AZ looks like a perfect fit.

Thank you in advance for all the info
