St pete college fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I have read previous posts on here over the last few months regarding admission to SPC's AS Nursing program. I applied for the fall 2013 semester. Are there any applicants out there who also applied? I am playing the waiting game. Do any previous applicants know how long it takes to hear if you are accepted or not, once the application window closes? Thank you:)

I have a question maybe someone may know the answer to, I see the people who got in have a list of to-do's. some requiring a fair amount of time, such as cpr class, getting shots etc..I understand these tasks must be done before you start the first course. As an alternate who will not find out my fate until July 26, would I have time to complete all the requirements before the first day of classes..

I think some of the things (like vaccinations) have to be done before the first clinical day, which I think is a few weeks into the semester, so that buys you a little more time. I'm sure they'll address this at the orientation on July 15 so I'll pass along the info. I do know that if you have to get an MMR vaccination, you need two booster shots and they are 4 weeks apart. All of the other things on the to-do list could be completed in a few days (for instance, I'm getting the fingerprinting and drug testing done today).

Moksiu77, (727) 341-3651 I left a message and she called me back right away.

Hey guys,

just FYI, I called SPC but I wasn't able to make the time for the July 12th CPR class. So I checked with Baycare and they're doing a BLS Healthcare Provider class in St. Joseph's (Tampa) on July 16th from 5:30-9:30pm ($40). Just wanted to pass that along.

Ok, now back to checking things off the to-do list :-)

Where is the to do list? and once I pay the 188.00 will that give me the info about where to go for fingerprinting and drug testing?

Hi melody,

Yes, once you pay the $188, that site will have all of the information that needs to be completed and uploaded.

Hope this helps.

Thank you SKFord713. Just done my fingers printing, scheduled drug test and CPR will be next on the list ... so exciting :)

I submitted my background check, and doing my drug screening and fingerinprinting tomorrow. I did my CPR class already back in May at the HEC. it was 40 dollars for the class plus like 7 dollars for the book. easy course and about 2 hours

Hi!

Just so you guys know, the to-do-list isn't officially due until you go out to clinicals (2 months into the program)

Don't stress! You do not have to have it done before orientation or the first day of school.

--Finishing up nursing II now.

Just an FYI about immunizations/titers - I used the Immunization Assistant on Certified Profile, and if you have not yet had titers done for MMR or varicella the program will set up a referral to LabCorp for those titers. BUT! The price to have LabCorp run the titers is over $10 more per titer than the health department charges (for example, $29.25 at LabCorp versus $16.25 at the health department for the measles titer).

Is anyone going to be working while they are going to school or rely on loans? If you are working ,what kinda work you do? how many hours would you be working? when will you know if you are getting behind on things? after a test or you will just feel it? i am trying to decided what i should do. i obviously cant afford to go part time due to bills i have to pay, but i also cant rely on student loans to get me through the next 4 semesters.

Mhasan77, I will be picking up shifts as needed throughout the program. I am a sever so I have a lot of flexibility and can make desent money in a 5 hour shift. I plan to just kind of play it by ear and I am lucky enough to have a boss that will let me do that.
