St pete college fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I have read previous posts on here over the last few months regarding admission to SPC's AS Nursing program. I applied for the fall 2013 semester. Are there any applicants out there who also applied? I am playing the waiting game. Do any previous applicants know how long it takes to hear if you are accepted or not, once the application window closes? Thank you:)

Hey guys,

Just got my results for MMR titer and it came back negative . Does anyone know where to get the cheapest vaccinations? The pinellas health clinic wants $67 per shot, which is still quite expensive.

Thanks!

Pinellas County Health Department was the cheapest I found (my insurance doesn't cover immunizations for adults).

What type/where did everyone get their BP cuff.. I was just wanting to make sure I got a decent one, easy to use. Also looking for plain white shoes that dont look like clogs, wanted a sneaker type shoe that will be comfortable. And one more question, I did my fingerprint scan about 2 weeks ago and its still not showing on certified profile, does it take awhile for the school to complete the last phase of this? Sorry, thought of something else, I also paid the 12 extra dollars for a certified background check card, has anyone received theirs yet by mail?

Hey Mhasan, Thank you for telling us about the financial aid office expanding your book line of credit. I emailed them yesterday and am hoping to get a response soon. I can not come out of pocket 420.00 right now with everything else we are paying for, not to mention kids school supplies! Did you speak with someone specific? which campus did you go to? sorry for 20 questions. If I do not hear back I will go into the office on Thursday and just want to know who I should speak with. Thank you!

JenniferWarner,

I thought the BP cuff at the book store was quite pricey so I looked on amazon and came across a stethoscope/ BP cuff combo and with the abundant amount of positive reviews from RNs/ etc., I went for them. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Lumiscope-Purple-Blood-Pressure-Stethoscope/dp/B00DDY8U02/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375809738&sr=8-1&keywords=lumiscope

Still looking for some comfortable shoes also...:scrying:

The last part of the fingerprint is to be completed by the school once they get around to it i guess. Did mine awhile back but its still awaiting completion by the school..

Hoped that helped.

Thanks nbluextc..Just got my titers back and showed positive for mumps and measles, but negative for rubella..Strange cause I should have been vaccinated against all three, wonder how this happens..So now I need the MMR series again..uggg. minor set back, should be completed before clinicals start.. On the bright side I did get my HEC photo ID today.. starting to feel legit..lol

On my first set of MMR titers I was positive for mumps and rubella, and equivocal for measles. I had the measles titer run a second time, and that time it was positive. I jumped for joy.

White shoes - Peltz has at least 4-5 styles of all-white New Balance shoes. I think they ranged in price from around $50-60 to over $100. They were running shoe-style, with laces.

Found out today when I went back to the health department to get my second TB test that they have shortages of the serum. They sent me to Lakeside Occupational Medical Centers (Lakeside Occupational Medical Centers), and the TB test there was actually $5 cheaper than at the health department. So if anyone is still shopping around for titers/immunizations, Lakeside might be a good resource. They have locations in Largo, Carillon Parkway, Palm Harbor, and St. Petersburg.

Will check peltz for shoes.thanks highwaygirl. Does anybody else have nights with ann morris and Ed White hospital?l

I went to the clearwater campus (you can go to any campus with financial aid). I spoke to Alice Marks and she told me i can email her my book list (from angel) along with a receipt from the bookstore showing you ordered the supplies that shows the total. Her email is [email protected]

@highwaygirl

Wow i cant believe your insurance doesnt cover it. mine covered the TB tests, the TDAP shot and my complete blood work for the other immunizations to show what I am immune to (the only thing that showed i was not immuned to was the HEP B so i declined it for now but am planning on starting the 3 series soon just incase).

@Jennifer, you can get BP buff, i got mine off amazon for like 20 bucks or so. the bookstore sells one for like 35 but there are cheaper options out there, just make sure its the manual one you inflate yourself not an automatic one. CVS has one for like 20 bucks. Mine was a standard size adult arm cuff.

Fingerprints, like nblue said, whenever they get to it, its not important its just they have alot of applicants and they are waiting to see who is getting in, who isn't passing based on backgrounds, etc, just get the scan done and you are done for that requirement.

For those that are wondering, clinicals dont start for 8 weeks into the semester so you have time to get them done, just dont wait till the last second.

I have to go get my second TB test done this week. Got my TEAS test tomororw....:x3:

Hi JenniferWarner,

i am also taking nights with Morris @ Ed White.

Regarding the cuffs, just like mhasan said, there are plenty online/amazon. I ended up getting mine at CVS :-)

Hey guys, how's it going?

i have a few questions from our CP to-do list that hopefully some of you can answer.

- Where do i find the ATI Testing Signature form?

- The Handbook Signature Agreement form and Waiver of license Guarantee form, are we getting those from professors once school starts?

- Where do we go for the self assessment test that we are supposed to take from home?

Thank you in advance for you help!

RNS2B,

- I believe you get the ATI Testing Signature Form from the school/skills lab once you complete your ATI testing.

- The two forms you mentioned are available for download on CB and will be completed with your instructor on your first day of class.

- I'm not sure I've heard of the self assessment test, but if you're talking about the Assessment of Health Status form, that's available on CB also.

Sorry if I didn't answer your questions correctly..

But yea, I have a question myself to anyone that can help. Does anyone know where to obtain the TB questionnaire form? The school says that the physicians provide them, but my doctor has never heard of them. Please help!
