I'm curious if anybody got their acceptance letter yet?
I just recently took my entrance test - it was easy. They changed the test style. After the first test comes the HESI which I know would be more challenging. The name of the entrance test is not DET anymore. It stinks considering on the application packet it says that the test would be DET and even recommended to buy the book guide - I bought it unfortunately. Anyway, anybody applied to other nursing school aside from st.paul's?
Arg anyone waiting for their acceptance letter? What's your GPA? Are you in the morning or evening program?
I believe there's no pre-requisites to get in. The school is a block program which means the curriculum is fixed. If you're talking about the non-nursing courses they are ENG1, Gen. Psychology, ENG2, A&P1, A&P2, Microbio, Dev. Psych, Sociology, Math for meds. You can take this outside SPSON to save money. 500 per credit is ridiculous.
I hope I didn't miss something.

that is exactly what I was looking for thanks so much,
When I called I spoke with Admission and she was nice but not informative at all on what the gen educational classes were and I wanted to know as not to spend 500 per credit on them
Thanks and good luck did you choose St Paul if so how is the experience you are gainning from them I want and need an evenning class, but I am planning pretty wisely right now.
These posts are so helpful to prospective St. Paul's students. I just received my qualification letter for admission on Friday, 5/28/10. It is now asking that I have to take a urine drug test and pay for a background check ($65). I also have to arrange to send a deposit ($500) for classes by the end of June 2010.
I am concerned with financial aid---loans, work commitment contracts from affiliated hospitals, as well as class schedules (day and evening). I work part-time now and need to know the financial part of the admissions process.
Can anyone give me some insight into their financial aid package?
hello there smc6787,
congrats to your acceptance and completion of your 1st semester at the school. i feel soooooooooo lost in the admission process. i passed all the exams with great scores. i am in the process of sending in the $500 deposit and arranging for the $65 background check and free urine drug test.
i am puzzled by all the shroud of secrecy at the queens campus, though. i would like to know about the financial aid packages being offered at st. paul's. do they offer scholarships, work-commitment programs with their hospital affiliates, or just student loans / fafsa and nys tap grants? are you in the eve or day program? did you have to repeat old science and math courses as part of the prereq?
i am cash-strapped right now but is willing to take on friendly loan-debt from family and relatives to pay for school. i really want this. i am focused and ready for nursing school. please give me your unique insight.
thxs.
