St. Paul's School of Nursing - Fall 2010 Acceptance

Published

I'm curious if anybody got their acceptance letter yet?

I just recently took my entrance test - it was easy. They changed the test style. After the first test comes the HESI which I know would be more challenging. The name of the entrance test is not DET anymore. It stinks considering on the application packet it says that the test would be DET and even recommended to buy the book guide - I bought it unfortunately. Anyway, anybody applied to other nursing school aside from st.paul's?

Arg anyone waiting for their acceptance letter? What's your GPA? Are you in the morning or evening program?

I applied for the evening program. I already know 2 people personally that have been accepted already withought interviews. I'm wondering if dropping off my spring 2010 semester grades in next week when they get posted. Maybe that will help?

It couldnt hurt right? Thats what matters

I am so sorry to hear that you didn't get in. I would definitely call them and ask. Don't lose hope! You did really really good on your HESI! Did you finish all your prerequisites? What are your science GPA if you don't mind me asking? Did you apply in the day or night program? Because, I believe day program is extremely hard to get into.

Yeah I applied for the evening program. I'm not sure if there were really any pre reqs because I was under the impression you can take them at The actual school. I do have bio 1&2 A&P 1&2 Gen chem 1&2 and intro socio and intro psych. As well as a few English classes. I'm sure most of you are in the same boat with all the credits. I am however missing a developmentalpsych and microbio

Anyone here currently in the evening program? I'm curious about the usual schedule. :chair:

Hi everyone. I received my acceptance letter from St Pauls!!! I immediately dropped off my deposit, completed the drug screening and the criminal background. Does anyone know what the next step is?

Hi MelisSI. Just sit back and relax. They will be mailing the information package in a few weeks/months. They are still accepting applications so the wait could probably take months. In the meantime, make sure your immunizations are up to date, your fin-aid is done, and that's about it. Enjoy the summer.

BTW, have you finished all your pre-reqs?

hey everyone i'm currently a student at st.pauls in the staten island location..just finished my 1st semester. If anyone has any questions i'd love to help with anything i can.. :)

Vitamin Sea- Thanks, I figured I would have to wait for something. I just wasn't sure if the staff works throughout the summer or comes back before school starts. I wanted to be as prepared as possible. I have completed all pre reqs except micro and A & P. You applied to the evening program also right?

SMC6787- Hi, I have so many questions, dont know where to begin. Can you tell us what your schedule is like? How is the staff? Is med/surg as hard as I hear it is? Thanks so much!!

Hii MelisSI!! i'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have :)

are you applying to the s.i. location & did u get in already?

ok so depending on if you chose the evening program or day program.. i was in the day program and classes run monday through friday.. i didn't have a&p because i already took it before i came to st.pauls.. so i had wednesdays off. The first half of the semester, on either monday or tuesday u will have lab after that class. also classes on thurs & friday. The first semester isn't really medsurg, it's fundamentals and you will also have 3 other classes with it. In my opinion, fundamentals was def the most challenging but it's def doable, u just gotta study hard and practice questions and ask as many questions as you can!

the teachers you will have are really good.. and of course everyone has their own opinions but it's really what you make of it.. overall they are good.

The 2nd half of the semester you will have clinical monday & tuesdays at clove lakes nursing home and classes after clincal and thurs & friday. It gets really tiring but it goes by quick..finals time is the craziest.. but you could def do it! stay on top of things and you will be fine :)

anything else please feel free to ask :)

Thank you sooo much!! Yes I was recently accepted to the SI location, just handed in my deposit. I applied for the evening program though. I dont have A & P but I do have psych so maybe that will lighten my courseload a little. Fundamentals sounds like a tough class but like you said not impossible. Do you buy all of your supplies before classes start ex: uniform, books, med supplies? I'm glad to hear you are happy with the program, very reassuring. I'm in CSI now and St. Pauls is a breath of fresh air compared to them.

the books they will let you know during orientation.. and the they should be mailing you information about where to buy the uniform, that should be bought b4 the semester begins...the store is antoinettes..they'll send u all the info about that. Med supplies- the only things we needed for the 1st sem was a stethescope & a blood pressure cuff.. and the bp cuff isn't mandatory, it's just something if you wanted to get on your own if u wanted to.

didn't know you were in the evening program, it's much different from the day program..and ur clinical site is going to be at rumc. also, i hear the evening program professors are great! so thats good :) only thing is classes are til late (4-11pm)

i wish you the very best of luck!! anything else let me know :)
