Ok first let me start by saying TAKE YOUR TIME!!! I rushed through the exam b/c the proctor told us not to spend too long on each question. You have 4 hrs, I finished in 90 minutes and scored above 90 in each section. So DONT rush. Ok on to the actual test. Everything is pretty much exactly what is in the Hesi study guide. You have a calculator you can use on the computer so that speeds things up a bit. There are not a lot of word problems, I would say approximately 10. Memorize the roman numerals, military time and liquid measurements there are a few questions pertaining to them on there. The math is exactly the same as the guide but obviously some questions are a little more difficult than the study examples. The vocab is exactly what is in the study guide aside from maybe 5 words. For example hypertension was one of the words that was not in our book. They will use some of the words in sentences. The reading section was the most difficult to me, prob b/c I was rushing and did not want to keep going back to read the passages agaon and again. They will give you 3 or 4 passages and you have approx 6 questions per passage. Then the grammar, they will give you sentences and you have to pick the word that is or is not grammatically correct or fill in the blanks. I dont remember them asking anything about identifying nouns, verbs or adjectives etc. Also you cannot go back after answering a question only forward. The sections are broken up by the 4 categories, math, grammar, vocab and reading. If I remember correctly you can pick the order you want to do the sections in.
Sorry post is so long wanted to really explain it the way I would have liked it explained. Hope this helps. Good Luck and relax if you do good on the practice problems in the book you will do good on the test. Let me know if you have any other questions!:):)
