St. Paul's School of Nursing - Fall 2010 Acceptance

Published

I'm curious if anybody got their acceptance letter yet?

I just recently took my entrance test - it was easy. They changed the test style. After the first test comes the HESI which I know would be more challenging. The name of the entrance test is not DET anymore. It stinks considering on the application packet it says that the test would be DET and even recommended to buy the book guide - I bought it unfortunately. Anyway, anybody applied to other nursing school aside from st.paul's?

Arg anyone waiting for their acceptance letter? What's your GPA? Are you in the morning or evening program?

So did anyone get their acceptance letter? If so, are you guys attending the day or night program?

I hope current student/s would offer some advice and insights about the school. :l

1 person earlier mentioned getting an acceptance letter, but I haven't seen any others. I'm wondering if they are going to wait for most of the applicants to take the hesi before they start sending out letters or if they are going to do it on a first come first server basis.

St Pauls is still accepting applications. I inquired about applying both in November and in January, and on Friday I finally got a phone call saying if I wanted to apply to call back and make an appointment to take the 12 minute test you have to take before applying. There are still seats available for Fall 2010, I, however, won't be applying because in my experience everyone over there is on a different page and it is very unorganized.

Hi All - new to the SP thread. I just got my letter today saying I've qualified for the program (assuming I pass the background/drug test and pay the deposit on time). The only thing is it doesn't specify whether it's the day or night program. I applied to the day program but told them in my interview that I was willing to attend either. Is it safe to assume it's the day program? It wasn't clear.

I have to agree with you. I already got my acceptance letter and I'm starting to have second thoughts about this school. Thing is, this is the only school that I applied to. If there are schools out there that are still accepting application, I would definitely not choose St. Paul. The person that I spoke to on the phone is starting to irritate me. I would send a complaint to the director on why would they hire such person - very unhelpful, unapproachable, and so full of himself. I called last week to inquire about the program for the fall since I still have no idea about the schedule, the curriculum, and the financial aid, or what hospital are we attending, etc. He wouldn't give me straight answers. It's like he's making me sound stupid. I called for a second time and asked him if all my credits were transferred and got a "I don't know answer." I also asked him a couple of questions about scholarships, he didn't let me finish my sentence and said "I don't know about scholarships." Seriously. Give yourself a favor and just quit your job.:mad::mad: It's not like it's a university. It's one floor for pete's sake! No wonder it's not NLN accredited. I bet, they couldn't even pass the "customer satisfaction" - if such exist.

Vent done.

This was one of my issues as well. It didn't state on my letter if it's day or night program. I'd called them just to clarify. Don't worry. I'm sure you got accepted to the day program. Oh and btw, BIG congratulations on your acceptance! I did my background check and drug/urine test a couple of days after getting my letter. Just to get it over with. Good luck to all of us.

When i went for the interview the lady i spoke with was very nice. she informed me on everthing about the school, including clinical sites. strange they didnt give you an interview? and i know the guy you're talking about he does seem like a smartass, but everyone else seemed very nice. she gave me her buisness card if i had any questions. i had emailed her actually about my credits and she emailed me back right away saying they all went through. if you want to send me your email address i'll give you her name email address and number.

Please can you PM me her email address. Would love to send her an email about my questions. And, if you have the time could you include some additional infos about the school - clinical sites, etc.

Thank you. :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe

I don’t think I have that PM setting yet, can you send me your email address? But I definitely wouldn’t let that guy discourage you from the school, to be honest I don’t think he knows anything so I don’t know why hes answering phones. The lady that interviewed me is the head nursing instructor there. She went over my transcripts and explained to me the courses I would be taken. I had already taken math for meds and she said I can take a challenge exam and if I get over an 80 I don’t need to take it. That’s why I find it strange they didn’t schedule you for an interview because I think theyre supposed to go over your transcript with you. The clinical sites she said they were affiliated with a few hospitals in Queens, from what I remember she mentioned North Shore, Jamaica, and Flushing and few others. I’m not totally sure but I don’t think they offer scholarships. She also asked if I wanted day or evening classes and I told her day. Im sure theyre disorganized but it’s a very small school with over a hundred applicants applying, I never waited for a phone call I always just went there if I had any questions. That’s why I was one of the first few back in January to take the tests.

But write your email address and ill send you her info, I recommend maybe scheduling a meeting with her so she can go over your transcript, just tell her you were recently accepted.

Hello All!

From what I'm reading this school is still taking applicants?! I thought I was took late for next year. Has anyone applied recently? I looked on the website and there is no application where do you find one? Also, is there an email address to directly contact the school?

Yeah, see I'm sort of in the same boat. I was very enthusiastic about the school but the more I spoke to folks there and interacted with people at the tests/interview there ... the more leery I became. I haven't ruled it out all together but I've worked in admissions and some things just surprised me. I definitely don't want to discourage anyone from going there. It's hard enough to get into a nursing program in general! I interviewed with Beth Israel and they're my first choice so I'm hoping to hear from them. I know St. Pauls wants the deposit check back within 2 weeks of the date on the letter ... but my letter (aside from 4 obvious errors) wasn't dated!
