  1. Amch pays the least out of area hospitals as far as I am aware, there are some CNAs at other facilities making what a newer RN at amch is making.
  2. While purchasing a car last year the salesman asked me what I did, I told him I was a nurse. He asked me if I was a "Real Nurse" (RN) or a "Pretend Nurse" (PN), he found his joke hilarious. This is why hes a car salesman.
  3. Meant to post this earlier but I've been so busy... I PASSED! I checked my "quick results" Saturday evening when I got home from being out all day. The PVT works! Thank you everyone
  4. When I mailed my application to NY in June they required a passport sized photo be attached to the application. There was a box for it at the top right corner. I mailed my application to Albany on June 9th, paid my Pearson Vue fee on June 28th and received my ATT on June 30th.
  5. So I took the NCLEX-PN at 5pm this evening, well, actually I began a little before 5. I minimized the clock on the screen and wasn't really paying attention the the # of questions, I believe my exam shut off between 85-87 because the last # I remember seeing was 83 and I only answered a couple after that. By 5:37pm I was walking to my car and was in shock the whole ride home. I got a lot of SATA questions, and only one med calculation. Most of the meds on the exam I had never even heard of! The woman who ran my review course said not to do the PVT for 24hours after you take your test but I logged on and it said my test had been delivered so I tried it out... I got the good pop up. Knowing my luck there is probably a glitch in the computer's glitch! Haha.. I'm hoping tomorrow I get the same good pop up, waiting 48 hours for "unofficial quick results" is tedious!
  6. Lol yeah trust me we all have! I have all the books/workbooks in mint condition if you're interested
  7. No, the uniform company comes to the school in October and we had to buy the entire uniform from them. I believe it cost me about $65 for a top, bottom, and apron. The uniform is not scrubs so it is obvious if you're wearing regular scrubs.
  8. Hello, I just graduated the full time program in June. The uniforms are nothing short of awful. They are white pants and a white zip up top with a navy blue smock that has the school patch on it. The uniform is not scrub material, it's kind of scratchy.
  9. I sent my application to Albany on May 26th, however the head of my school didn't send the list of approved graduates to Albany until June 10th. I registered with Pearson Vue on June 28th and had my ATT the morning of June 30th.
  10. I would have loved it if my nursing school gave us 2 uniforms for free and a break after every 50 minutes. sheesh..
  11. THIS. The waiting lists for nursing programs in my area (NY Metro) can be years long. I chose to go the LPN route first so that I could bridge into an RN or BSN program more easily. I take offense when you say things about not wanting your mother to enroll in the LPN program because she is "too smart" for it, that is ridiculous. The people I graduated with in my LPN program are extremely intelligent people and great nurses.
  12. You haven't told ME anything. There has been more then "some meetings and comments" made about this bill but I'm not on this board to argue. I was simply stating that if RNs from a non-accredited school wish to go on and obtain their BSN (which is going to be a necessity eventually, even if BSN in 10 doesn't pass) it is going to be extremely difficult. St Pauls is quite a price tag for a non accredited education. Maybe this isn't the case in other parts of the state, but downstate where St Pauls is located the hospitals have more than enough new grads to choose from that when they're not having a hiring freeze they are looking for BSN nurses. That is all I'm saying on the St Pauls matter. Good luck in your future nursing endeavors.
  13. Just so you know, a bill was passed that says all nurses need to get their BSN in a certain amount of time after receiving their RN. Many nurses (such as the mother who received her schooling out of the US) have been grandfathered under this bill so they do not need to obtain a BSN. Many, if not all, bachelors programs will not accept classes that are not from an accredited school.
  14. I'm almost finished with lpn school, they offer a week of tests in June for challenge exams. You can test out of 6 nursing classes total. They tell you not to expect to pas these exams but I think they're just trying to deter you. After you pass the written exams you have to pass competencies. They automatically give you 2 classes for being an lpn .
  15. St Pauls loves to ride on the old St Vincents coat tails and claim that they are the same school, therefore have achieved the same things. This is completely false. They BOUGHT St Vincents when St Vincents went bankrupt. St Vincents was a wonderful school with a well deserved wonderful reputation. Ever since becoming SPSON the NCLEX pass rate for this school dropped into the low 80s, do not listen to anyone who tells you that SPSON is accredited under St Vincents name because thats not legally possible, it is a different institution. I was originally interested in attending St Pauls right when they switched over from St V's because I was not ready to transfer into St V's before they sold, however I have seen just how much things do not add up with this new school and will be taking my money elsewhere.
