St. Paul's School of Nursing - Fall 2010 Acceptance

Published

I'm curious if anybody got their acceptance letter yet?

I just recently took my entrance test - it was easy. They changed the test style. After the first test comes the HESI which I know would be more challenging. The name of the entrance test is not DET anymore. It stinks considering on the application packet it says that the test would be DET and even recommended to buy the book guide - I bought it unfortunately. Anyway, anybody applied to other nursing school aside from st.paul's?

Arg anyone waiting for their acceptance letter? What's your GPA? Are you in the morning or evening program?

Congratulations to all who got their acceptance letters!!

Yes, congrats! I'm still waiting for an answer from the Queens location. I called the office yesterday and when asked when all applicants would be notified whether or not they've been accepted, the woman on the phone said the Admissions Department was meeting next Tuesday to finally decide. She then said she would have to pull my application to make sure everything was in order and that she'd call me back. Still waiting for her phone call. I realize they just fired their Admissions guy (and thank god they did), but I just wish you could get someone on the phone who could give a straight answer. I was told 2 weeks ago that everyone would be notified by last week.

Does anyone know if St. Pauls allows you to test out of any of the gen ed courses. I have passed both Eng courses needed but Eng 101 is over 5 years old so they wont accept the credit. Is there a way to possibly test out of the course?

Thanksfor any help.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday for the staten island class, has anyone been able to find out if they have any work -committment contracts with any affiliated hospitals? thanks!

Hey Melissi, did someone at St. Paul's tell you that your credits wouldn't transfer? The admissions guy (who is no longer there) told me that my credits that were at least 12 years old WOULD transfer because they were part of a Bachelor's degree program. I am not sure what to believe now and would love to get a straight answer so I can either take a KLEP test or a summer class to get the non-nursing pre-reqs out of the way if I do indeed need to do that.

Aimeer79,

Yes I was accepted to the SI location and soon after received a later stating which of my credits they would and would NOT accept for transfer. The letter states anything over 60 months old is not eligible for transfer.

Can you take a CLEP test for St. Pauls? A lot of my classes won't transfer. 2 of them are too old, the dev. psych i took is incomplete because my school does it in 2 sessions where everyone else does... It would be wonderful if I can take CLEP exams for those classes!!

I met with Ms. ******** from the Queens location earlier this week, she informed me that any grades above C+ and above will be accepted as long as they are no more than 5yrs old. Also she said the admissions committee will be meeting this week and I should be hearing from them within the week.

hey bluefly, did you just show up at the office, or did you schedule a sitdown with Ms. ********? i would love to sit down with someone there to go over my credits before it's too late to either register for a summer class or a CLEP test.

hmmm....that's allnurses bleeped out her name its (moderator edit of name)! lol

i don't know if you can schedule an appointment its best to show up in person. the only reason i met with her was because they were waiting several weeks for my hs transcripts and it was holding the application process up, otherwise i would have heard back from them much earlier. she informed me that they no longer call people back for the formal interviews which they used to do( a lot of things change...frequently apparently). it is no longer part of there enrollment process. it seems the admissions committee meet and discuss each applicant based on there application which contains all the information you provide as well as you're hesi score. based on that they will make the final decision on you're admission.

i still think it would be a better idea to meet the actual applicant in person and put a face/personality to the paper. letters and numbers can only tell you so much about a person....

anyway now i just have to sit and wait i guess. will keep you posted!

I called today, and the receptionist said that they don't accept CLEP exams, but who knows

hmmm....that's allnurses bleeped out her name its (moderator edit of name) lol

you're not supposed to post actual names on here.
