oh my goodness, i am not sure what i got myself into by taking this shortened summer anatomy course. i need it to be eligible for the adn program beginning 6/2007 and they make their first round picks in october. i took it hoping i could find out early if i am chosen but wow, what alot of memorization in a short amount of time. on top of that, the instructor kept saying how hard this class is and he could not believe that people would take this in the summer. he went on and on! i just got home and have a ton to learn by tomorrow at 1 pm. i am wondering if this is doable or not.

It is totally doable! I took AP1 during last summer, while also taking a CNA course. It was challenging, but if you want it bad enough, then you'll do great! Good luck.:)

i agree it is totally doable! just don't take any other classes. i took anp win quarter and i must it it was tough. i'm taking anp ii this quarter and i actually think its a lot harder even though its less memorization. i would suggest getting some study groups together, because i bet a lot of your classmates are in the same boat. good luck!

Today was my first day of A&P1 also, and I loved it. It will be hard but it will pay off in the end. For me, taking the course crammed into 4 weeks will help me to remember what I've learned. Study hard and you will do great. :studyowl: Donna

I'm planning on memorizing a lot of body parts before I even start my regular 16 week anatomy course this fall! I've bought "Anatomy and Physiology for Dummies" as well as "Survival Guide for Anatomy and Physiology" to help me prep! I also found that website http://www.msjensen.gen.umn.edu/webanatomy/image_database/default.htm that is posted in the stickies that gives practice tests for all the anatomy and physiology stuff a few months ago and I've been playing around taking the tests to help me memorize stuff. Have you bought flash cards or any other study aides?

I'm sure you can do it. I'm starting A&P tommorrow so I definitely understand your nervousness.

I am taking a&p and chem in the shortened summer session, plus working and have 3 children. If I can do it, you can. Study all the time. I take my book to baseball games. When others watch TV, I study. I keep my book in the car, when everyone is in the mall or grocery, I read in the car. I bought flash cards and my 11 year old quizzes me. It is doable. BUT it is not easy, that is for sure.

I think it is doable if you are not working a full time job. You will want to make sure you stay on top of your studying. Get those flash cards ready! You really want to concentrate on this course and get an A.
Thanks for all of the encouragement. I am not working outside of the home and my girls are teenagers so I can do this! I just got home from day two which was a dry lab. I was over-prepared and spent the lab time working on extra credit. I have to read two chapters for tomorrow. I do not have the flash cards and should probably invest in those. I did see them in the book store. This instructor did not give an option for a coloring type book but the other one does. Anyone use those?

Ugh, I am having the exact opposite experience in the shortened A&P course. I'm bombing it TERRIBLY. I don't know if it's me, since I"m working full time and have very limited study time, or the sheer VOLUME of what I am expected to memorize, or the teacher (who is really not all that hot) or some combination thereof, but I simply can not pass this class. It's layed out in such a way that we have two tests a week, both on thursday, one on lecture, one on lab.
If I had had any inkling on what the class was going to be like, I would have simply waited until the fall and taken it during the regular semester.
This is NOT TO SAY you can't do it! Lots of people in the class are toughing it out and doing just fine. Sadly, I don't seem to be one of them, which is discouraging.
Oh, Danaful....I can relate. I almost dropped Friday, I could get 100% refund but I could not do it. Our first test is on Monday and our lab test is Tuesday. I want to see how I handle that but jeez....I have put way more into studing for this then I have ever done before so I know it is harder than I am used to.
