Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

I have a question, do you all think that they're done updating UT link? Mine has not changed at all, and I will be ok if I am not accepted, but I just need to know, there are other schools I need to prepare for to enter in the spring, and this just keeps me confused and waiting.

Thank you Kimmy! I really appreciate your response! I have Cherokee currently for my job and love them but no navy blue so it looks like I will have to purchase some new ones but 25-30 isn't bad at all. I was assuming they were going to be more because campus bookstores usually charge more for items. Well that is great news. Thanks again for your help!

I wish I can answer to your question about the link. Mine has not changed as well. I am pretty sure, if we won't get accepted, they will notify us by the end of this month. I hear you.. I am also trying to contact other schools.. It would be great if they could let everybody know at once. But I think it is not possible due to the volume of workload for so many application. Just be patience. Nothing much we can do about this. I am about to give up hope...:confused:

to be honest. i gave up. i am going to try again though...

I used to be afraid of rejection and I would not try at life. To be honest. This is the first year I focused on school because I realized that I need to lock down on everything. I was aiming for the easiest school at the beginning of the year and.... I really surprised myself. I didnt think I would ever make the grades that I did. 3.5 isnt amazing but coming from like a 2.3, it is...

Since I feel like I actually realized what I want to do and where I belong... I am going to keep striving for this!

they asked us how we deal with disappointment. the only way to properly deal with it is to go straight through it and try again. You always know what the right words to say to someone when they feel down... but people never usually embrace their advice.

This is the first time in my life I have embraced it and I will try again until I get in.

But I still had 21 hours to complete this semester.. I am actually enrolled in 6 right now. and I have 1 winter mini... which may have affected their decision for me because I still think I had a perfect interview.

Going to send in Apps for TWU, UTHSCSA, UTHSC and UTT. and take the TEAS V

Good luck with nursing school everyone. Hopefully I will get in next semester! and good luck to those still trying!

Finally the email came! :) I'm soooo excited now! I can't wait to meet everyone on the 10th. I'm hoping i'll see some people that I met on my interview date.

btw my stats are:

second degree applicant

hesi overall 90

undergrad gpa 3.75

nursing prereq gpa 3.94

science gpa 4.0

I stil have 3 classes to finish this semester including Micro.

Interviewed one of the last days in beginning of October

I've already gotten started on my pre enrollment requirements! I finished the background check and signed up for a CPR class. I plan on scheduling the rest next week!..

By the way, does anyone know how much the scrubs are at the bookstore? I might purchase mine from a uniform store but I wonder if color matching is important. I know they have to be navy blue but does it matter if it's a certain shade of navy blue? I'm just so excited I want to get everything ready.

I went to the American Heart Association website and found a BLS class there. I'm attending the one on Nov 20th. It is going to be $64. There may be cheaper ones from a different organization but this was the first that I found.
