Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

I'm still a lil excited no one has showed up with Oct interviews :) maybe they'll just finish early and let us know something early....LMAO....(Wishfull Thinking)

(here I go with my silly calculations again)...since it seems that there has only been two weeks of interviews, all with 25 in each time slot, that is about 500 people they would have interviewed already. If there isn't anyone else checking in here for Oct. interviews, they very well may be done. I hope sure hope so. Maybe they were giving Nov. 15 as the latest date they will have answers out but they might get it out sooner, I would think.

We will find out before Nov. 15th. I applied for last spring semester as well and they told us Nov. 15th as the big day then as well. We actually found out around the last week of october and first week in November. The 15th is the day they mail out the actually letters. If any of us do get in we will generally find out by email first.

Hi quimblebee. Thanks for the quick reply. I sure hope it's earlier. So you applied last Spring? How about Fall? If you don't mind me asking, did you not get accepted or were there other reasons you didn't accept them? How was your interview and credentials? Well either way, I hope you get in this semester. This nursing entrance stuff is tough.

We should actually be finding out sometime around the 4th of November, but not everyone got emails on the same day. I did not apply for the Fall 2010 semester nor did I get in for the Spring 2010 semester. I thought that my interview this time went a lot better then it did the first time I applied. MY GPA is around a 3.2 , it is not as high as I would like it to be but I have worked hard to bring it back up from a 1.2. My HESI scores were decent. I have been volunteering since I was 8 with one organization and volunteering with MD Anderson for the past 7 years.

I really think the most important thing to keep in mind for this whole process is to have a backup plan so that way if anyone does not get it it isn't the end of the world becuase there are other ways to get to where we all want to be.

I totally agree with you. Perseverance is key to success. I definitely have back-up plans. I actually applied to the LVN program last semester, got in but didn't accept b/c I was waiting to apply for Spring 2011. I'm also applying to the ADN program. I'll know by December if I get in. Chances look good for that. But of course, this UT is my top priority and main choice so hopefully I get in, but if not...I still have the LVN defered to another semester and wait for ADN. Well I hope they see that your persistance in trying and great job in improving your GPA! That is a big leap. Good luck! :)

I wonder if everyone who meets the requirements is called for an interview?

in no way am i trying to be mean. but I wouldnt go as low as LVN if your original goal was BSN. ADN would be a much better option. the only downside with ADN is that for you to get your bsn you would have to spend an extra year in school.

they are phasing alot of ADN's out of the hospital system though... so if you have a job you will keep it but you wont be competitive anymore.

Hello all. I've been reading the posts on this site for a while now. I hate to ruin everyone's wishful thinking about interviews being over, but I have my interview on October 1st at 8:00 am. Just thought I would chime in... that way you all would know they are still conducting interviews.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!! LMAO :lol2: J/K....Good Luck on your interview...and glad you decided to join besides Oct. 1 is all alone in a wk w Sept. so it may very well be the last wk of interviews....LMAO...seriously I need to get back to "reality" LOL...truth is for Spring 2010 it seems Oct. 19th was the last interview and then they took @ 2 wks to decide cause by Nov. 4th their status began changing...

The reason I think that everybody who meets the requirements gets an interview is because I have yet to read anyone stating they did not get an interview that has a complete application.
