Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

Nov 15 can not get here fast enough!!!!

Everyone who got any interview, were y'all applying for the traditional only or does these numbers include the accelerated program? I applied for the accelerated but haven't heard anything yet..

from what i know of the accelerated program for summer they do those interviews in the spring and you should know sometime in march/april

I got the interview for the traditional program. I would assume you wouldn't hear anything for the accelerated program until after the December 1 deadline.

Wow didn't know they did them that late. I was so sad that I didn't have an interview yet....but I'm not super worry now...just a tad! Thanks for the quick response!

They are only doing interviews for the traditional program right now :) I think they interview @ the same time as the fall applicants

ut hsc is the only school i applied to... i was depending on making it for the spring. kinda scared now...

Congrats to everyone who has gotten an interview for UT Houston Nursing :) I'm currently a 3rd semester UT Nursing student who was admitted for spring 2010 admission... so i was in your shoes just a year ago.

If you guys have specific questions about the program or anything really, I'd be happy to answer them!

I'm not completely sure of my numbers, but for my class they admitted about 80 to 85 just to the generic program (they didn't do any interviews for the accelerated) and then we also had half-time people join my class from the previous semester and people who failed courses from fall 2009. In total we had about 120 in my class.

I have a previous degree from another university, but I purposely did not pick the accelerated program due to the intensity of the course load. You have to take 20 hrs a semester (including summer) and you only graduate 3 and 1/2 months earlier. 20 hrs of school is intense... 20 hours of nursing school is killer. Most of the people who do well in that program either have no choice or they are just able to handle the stress of nursing school + very little free time.

Just as an FYI, my class last year found out we got in through email/utlink by the first week of November, so you PROBABLY won't have to wait until the 15th. Also, many of your interviewers will be your first semester professors. They are pretty much awesome :)

if you had to rate the hardness of the courses from 1(extremely easy) to 10(extremely hard), what # would you give the program courses?

also, would you happen to know anyone that didnt do that well, or answered a question wrong on the interview section but still got in the program?
