Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

400 interviewed and they will select 80 people

My gosh!!!!!! thats all

Yes I was thinking it'd be MORE than 80!! :uhoh3: I was told this by one of the admissions staff! She also said that 800 applied for this semester.. so only half got interviews! Have you had your interview yet?

hmm i wonder if they are still offering the pacesetter program? i was told they took 150 total last semester with the pacesetter program

I'm pretty sure that the 80 is for the traditional program.. but I'm not one hundred percent.. Which one did you apply for?

I think the pacesetter program is offered only in the Fall admissions, and is not offered during Spring admissions.

o ok thanks for the info!! i was just thinking i dont remember them saying anything about it

80 sounds about right. I do think they only offered the Pacesetters for this past Fall and not sure if they will Fall 2011, but not for Spring 2011 :(

atina asked and she said it was 95-100.

so 25% of us will get in.

very scary.

TBH I feel that this interview is what will determine whether we get in or not. cause if you get an interview we are all on the same level.

we are academically acceptable now we have to see if we are mentally/socially. I would assume they want people based off their personality.

No one wants to go to a nurse that is rude/unapprochable/socially retarded.

Because the nurse is not just someone who treats patients. We are also the interpreters and one that comforts them quite a bit. You need to be able to relate and help people

That is exactly what i think. Those of us who were fortunate to have interviews, have academically qualified now it is up to our interview and whether our interviewer thought we were "ready" and "prepared". I think the questionnaire and short answer gave them an idea of basic skills and etiquette. I think they may go back to our academics if two or more applicants are similar in interview. I hope they accept more this semester...80 makes me nervous...lol...

either way all we can do is like was said "hope for the best, prepare for the worst"...lol...

what all schools did everyone apply for?? i personally applied at ut hsc and utmb
