I know this is an old post.. but I have a patient who has diverticulitis. They had the sigmoid/colon resection, colostomy,and I&D of abdominal abscess. I am trying to come up with nursing diagnoses but have too many ideas running through my head. They are not in any pain and I'm not sure how to incorporate the colostomy into the diagnoses?

I believe that so far in nursing school the best thing for me is to have somebody to vent to that won't judge you for what you say or try to give you advice. You never realize how nice it is to have somebody that listens until you are in nursing school!

yes I believe that's the same one I got. Mine is the Littmann classic II S.E. the cheaper one of that was the lightweight version of the Littmann.

oh wow that's kind of expensive. Ours were $25 a set if I remember correctly. We had to have 2 sets for school & 2 sets for clinicals plus a lab coat. It cost me $420 for the uniforms, lab supplies, & stethoscope. I did however purchase the most expensive stethoscope & it was $80.

Oh ok! Does Alvin require uniforms like San Jac? I would def compare what the cost are!

It was good! It went by SUPER fast for me! The last 4 weeks were the most difficult, but I got through it & made good grades. I've heard Alvin has a really good program, but I'm not sure how they compare to San Jac! That's awesome that you were accepted. When are you suppose to hear from San Jac?

I am also a student but by no means do I possess this attittude. If you are unsure why keep pursuing it? I think it's funny that you don't think this kind of stuff exist in other occupations. You say you've seen crime on the street first hand...& what is the significance of that? Seeing something disturbing does not mean that you are able to care for somebody else. Do you possess the qualitites of a nurse? where is the compassion?

Oh ok. I can try that. It is my personal homework assignment. I want to know them all before I do an IV in clinicals. Whenever we checked off on the skill and learned it last 8 weeks the teachers did not talk alot about specific sites. The documenting system at the hospital I'm at has the list but, the only way to look at it is when you are documenting that you started an IV. I have: arterial assess device, antecubital r/l, arm r/l, arm r/l lower, arm r/l upper, arterial line r/l, basilic vein r/l, brachial r/l, & central multilumen blue. If you notice they are somewhat in alphabetical order because I wrote them down in class whenever we were being registered to give meds. I asked the teacher and she said she didn't have a copy of the list & that I should try looking them up online.

Hi. I was wondering if anybody has a list of all the IV sites? I've been searching online & can't seem to find one. I have the very beginning of the list but am unable to get the rest of it & having it would really help me out! Thank you!

I know we have orientation tomorrow and Wednesday. Everybody has to meet at 8 on those two days..
