Just wondering, seeing how competitive i am.... How many are applying to Spring 2010 at CSN? And what is your score? If you don't feel comfortable telling your score, just say if you are applying. I have heard that there arent many applicants this semester but also heard to the contrary, there are LOTS of applicants this semester. So I'm confused and just wondering how many are applying? I know not nearly EVERYONE who applied goes on allnurses.com, but just out of those on here, I was wondering who applied for full time spring 2010. Thanks!
Then I asked if I got in, and she said no. I asked what the lowest points they accepted was and she said 24. I applied with a 24.I'm not insinuating anything but I'm curious. Are u sure you didn't miscalculate? How can you just have 24 total points with a 99 percentile on the TEAS? I mean w/ that score alone, it's an easy 4 or 5 points. You also said you're just missing BIOL 251 (which you're taking right now for a good extra 5 points for fall '10). Maybe it's a GPA issue, that's why you didn't get in this time? Maybe CSN looks at GPA also? especially w/ a tie on points?
Everyone, I am a little unclear about the cut-off points for your class- Spring 2010
Someone mentioned that the cut-off was 24 points. Im assuming this is for the Full Time Program?
I believe that there are different cut-off points for the Part Time Program, which is higher than 24 points.
The reason why I ask, is that I applied for the Fall 2010 Part Time Program with 27 points, and I was told I was selected as an alternate. And that most of the time they get in the program.
I was also told that they didnt have the information regarding the cut-off points for the Fall Semester.
I would just like to know what these cut-off's were for both Full Time and Part Time Spring 2010?
You need to go to the health sciences advisor. I would not call the admissions office, they are fielding a million calls all asking this question. The health sciences advisor requires an appointment and has a hard copy of statistical information regarding admission info for the past 7 or 8 years.
Are you saying that with 27 points you were selected as an alternate but never got called to be a selectee? I have to say, I had heard that part-time has people with 24 points as a rumor. Not a good or bad rumor, just talk. That info is not concrete. Check with the advisor! :)
Thanks Im going to look into that. I know that with the Fall Semester, the point spread would be different, but not that different.
Well I just found out a couple days ago that I was selected as an Alternate. And that Im still required to attend the Orientation Meeting.
I was told that most of the time the Alternates get selected into the Program.
Im wondering how soon do they know they need an Alternate, and when do they make that selection?
I know theres a million things that need to be done before you can start school $$. And these things take time. And plus I wanted to attend the Summer Math Class.
Thanks Im going to look into that. I know that with the Fall Semester, the point spread would be different, but not that different. Well I just found out a couple days ago that I was selected as an Alternate. The part-time route means fewer open slots. CSN doesn't need to fill up the whole, let's say 30 slots (whatever the number is). They can just admit 20 applicants if they want to, probably 5 alternates. To get into the part-time program, I would think that one has to have around, a 29 or a 30-point total.
Wait a tic, I thought you got in for spring 2010, Vegas 2009? I'm confused, trying to place who's actually in my class, lol.
I was in your class 2010. When do you have your lecture? Maybe I knew you but didn't know your handle (sockmonkey). Are you that girl who -- lol. . . I guess you can be anyone huh? I Was. . . unfortunately, I'm not anymore. How's school going for ya? Ya ready for the finals? Do you have both 101 and pharm finals on the same day?
Im wondering how soon do they know they need an Alternate, and when do they make that selection?
From my packet that I received on Friday it said "Tardiness in excess of 15 minutes will be considered as non attendance. Failure to attend will result in the loss of your position to the next member on the alternate list." So your chances of getting a spot can come at multiple times. Every meeting date on the packet and other circumstantial things such as the drug tests all provide you a chance to take a spot. Good luck!
Tip for orientation: Pay close attention to every instruction you are given. Some get a little scary when they get irritated, and it's very irritating to them to have to repeat instructions. If they say to line up, don't chit chat and meander over, GET IN LINE. Just a piece of advice. :) And yes, several people, because of getting freaked out at orientation, decide not to proceed with the program. Many see the cost of books and testing, immunizations, uniforms, shoes, etc. and back out. I would assume all the alternates would be called. :)
Thanks for the great advise, and I do hope that I would be called as an Alternate. I know for a fact that my points are above 27, but I dont have the exact figure, I will get that.
I have read that it is very expensive and the costs can add up to attend Nursing School.
In fact, things like immunizations and the CPR Class are required before you can even start class.
Unfornately for me, I dont have any of those things, and the question becomes if Im able to afford all of that, for the chance that I may or may not be selected into the program.
Plus I wanted to attend the Summer Workshop which highlights the math calculations for nursing. But I guess as an Alternate I cant attend that.
