What do you mean they´re not hiring New Grads? But I thought there was this HUGE Shortage, and NO MATTER WHAT, you will always have a job. Could you please elaborate? Why someone who would apply to 500 jobs and not be working in the Nursing Field?

WHAT???? Are you kidding me? OK Im scheduled to start Nursing School in 2 weeks, and Im still on the fence about whether this is really the correct thing for me to do at age 45. New RNs are getting No call backs? Can someone explain this situation to me? This is now what I´ve been hearing for years about this huge Nursing Shortage and that EVERYONE in the Nursing Field has a job.

Hello everyone, I was accepted into the Fall 2010 Part Time Program, but I wanted to post to your blog, because it seems like the only one active. So I'm planning on moving to Las Vegas to start the Fall Program. Now the question becomes, are there any Tech Jobs in Las Vegas? Microsoft Development? Im not finding much at all, which is making me nervous. Im not from the area at all, so now Im trying to figure out how I will be able to support myself in a place with 15% unemployment. Your advise would be appreciated.

How important would you consider the 1.5 credit preparatory math class thats offered over the summer? The drug screen. What type of drug screen is this? Thanks for the great advise, and I do hope that I would be called as an Alternate. I know for a fact that my points are above 27, but I dont have the exact figure, I will get that. I have read that it is very expensive and the costs can add up to attend Nursing School. In fact, things like immunizations and the CPR Class are required before you can even start class. Unfornately for me, I dont have any of those things, and the question becomes if Im able to afford all of that, for the chance that I may or may not be selected into the program. Plus I wanted to attend the Summer Workshop which highlights the math calculations for nursing. But I guess as an Alternate I cant attend that.

Thanks Im going to look into that. I know that with the Fall Semester, the point spread would be different, but not that different. Well I just found out a couple days ago that I was selected as an Alternate. And that Im still required to attend the Orientation Meeting. I was told that most of the time the Alternates get selected into the Program. Im wondering how soon do they know they need an Alternate, and when do they make that selection? I know theres a million things that need to be done before you can start school $$. And these things take time. And plus I wanted to attend the Summer Math Class.

I got that call that Im an alternate, but I still have to go to the Orientation like everyone else. Does anyone know what the cut-off point range is for both Full Time and Part Time? Or what your total points were? It seems that the cut-off for the Part Time is much higher.

Everyone, I am a little unclear about the cut-off points for your class- Spring 2010 Someone mentioned that the cut-off was 24 points. Im assuming this is for the Full Time Program? I believe that there are different cut-off points for the Part Time Program, which is higher than 24 points. The reason why I ask, is that I applied for the Fall 2010 Part Time Program with 27 points, and I was told I was selected as an alternate. And that most of the time they get in the program. I was also told that they didnt have the information regarding the cut-off points for the Fall Semester. I would just like to know what these cut-off's were for both Full Time and Part Time Spring 2010?
