Spring 2010 CSN ADN Program

U.S.A. Nevada

Just wondering, seeing how competitive i am.... How many are applying to Spring 2010 at CSN? And what is your score? If you don't feel comfortable telling your score, just say if you are applying. I have heard that there arent many applicants this semester but also heard to the contrary, there are LOTS of applicants this semester. So I'm confused and just wondering how many are applying? I know not nearly EVERYONE who applied goes on allnurses.com, but just out of those on here, I was wondering who applied for full time spring 2010. Thanks!

But one must take the actual drug test right away?

Take the 1.5 credit prep class! Of all the people I know who failed the meds calculation exam, none of them had taken that class. Plus it's always helpful to have a leg up on care plans for clinical. Those can seem confusing at first.

When is the Meds Calculation Exam? Is that part of Nurs 101 or something?

Doesn't Math 100B help, I just took it, I will try to take the toolbox, but I must see if I can afford to after all of the tests I have to pay for. I have a household to support I hope i can fit it into my budget....

Well if you can't afford it, you can't afford it, just make sure you are using your med math software that is on your required books list. The medication calculation exam is the one exam in the semester that can fail you from the program. You must get a 90% or higher to pass the course. You get one retake, but they expect you to know those calculations before you can safely pass meds in clinical and they don't lecture on them.

Hey all,

I have a quick question...So for christmas i got a wonderful Littman stethoscope, but it isnt double bell(is that the term??). As you know it was expensive and it works great. But,will it be ok for the program? I do have a cheap one that is double that maybe i could use during peds...which is when you need the smaller bell...correct?

Thanks Guys!

I also have a Littman with a self-tuning bell (does not flip from bell to diaphragm). It works wonderfully for nursing school, and it is in fact the same model that one of the professors uses.

Hey everyone,

looking for some advice.....so the first semester is only 8 credits which is full time to nursing but not to financial aid...has anyone taken any other easy courses during the first semester? If so what do you recommend? I dont want to overextend myself so im hoping that someone out there has some good advice on the situation.

Thanks a lot.

Hello everyone,

I was accepted into the Fall 2010 Part Time Program, but I wanted to post to your blog, because it seems like the only one active.

So I'm planning on moving to Las Vegas to start the Fall Program.

Now the question becomes, are there any Tech Jobs in Las Vegas? Microsoft Development? Im not finding much at all, which is making me nervous.

Im not from the area at all, so now Im trying to figure out how I will be able to support myself in a place with 15% unemployment. Your advise would be appreciated.

I don't know what to tell you the job market is pretty bad here....
