I know this is pretty early but i just finished my pre reqs for nursing and im on the border but I seriously CAN NOT wait to apply in march! Ill be finishing my AA if i dont get in.. so i will apply again if that happens but fingers crossed it wont! 3.766 gpa for application.. are you all excited?! Congrats to who got in last semester by the way! What how do you all feel at this point in time? Im feeling a huge accomplishment coming! --
That's what I'm hoping too, I'm sure the staff would rather enjoy their weekend instead of sending out hundreds of emails on a Saturday so fingers crossed. I am really leaning towards evenings as well, just don't want my household to fall apart while Mom isn't there...but finishing a semester sooner just sounds too good. The last few months sort of flew by but this last week and a half seem to be ticking by the second! Good luck to you!
I'm a paid tutor for Anatomy & Physiology I,II, and Microbiology at Gibbs / Clearwater campus. I have a 4.0 CUM, just waiting for selection/ orientation.
70/70 is 4.0.
Good luck everyone, but from other staff I can tell you this fall has had the highest influx of 4.0 applicants.
Roughly 650 candidates apply for the program, and 45 get in for days, as well as, 45 for evenings.

Sigh I really have no idea if I will be admitted with a 3.70 then. It's sad you only need a 2.8 to apply and the advisors tell me the average GPA accepted is a 3.5 - 3.7, but that is just BS! In recent years it's become extremely difficult to get admitted anywhere and I can't move or pay a lot for a private school. So far my whole college experience has really been a nightmare
I had been denied from HCC with a 3.4 prereq
denied USF with a 3.5 overall and 3.88 prereq (I have my AA and all the BSN prereqs too)
denied PHSC with a 3.78 prereq
So discouraging and depressing!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna be so sad if I'm denied from SPC too. Nothing I can do now, but hope to have a low number on the alternate list or hope somewhere accepts me in the spring.
The admission guide states approximately 450 - 550 apply and I had read on allnurses that 30 of the 90 seats are reserved for baycare EAYL employees.
I really hope many of the people with higher GPAs had also applied to universities and just applied to SPC as a back up...
I believe last fall the lowest GPA admitted was a 3.75, but for spring 2017 a abnormality happened (according to allnurses) where about everyone on the alternate list had been admitted because so many people who were accepted did not follow through..
I'm sorry to hear your luck! I'm surprised USF didn't accept you, that's strange to me.
SPC will inform all successful admittance no later than July 1st.
It would behoove you to look into Baycare if SPC does not pan out, as after 6 months with their company you can apply for the grant or EAYL program.
Which they then pay for your schooling in return for two years of contractual employment. It is also less competitive, and less focused on GPA more on holistical analysis of potential applicant.
It's really insane how hard it is to be accepted into USF now. I believe 2 years ago I could have gotten accepted no problem. They used to have a essay, it had recently been replaced with a interview. I had not even been accepted for an interview.. people with higher GPAs than me and even 3.9 prereqs had also been denied for a interview (can see on USF allnurses forum). USF used to admit people in the fall, spring and summer. Now they only admit people in the fall.
I suppose I could have applied to USF, as a male (Yes diversity is in my favor), 4.0GPA, etc.
However, why? More money for a BSN.
SPC is far cheaper, and transfers to FGCU (Anesthesiology) with Chem I & II.
Don't sweat it, the reason for all this malarkey in the first place is that people only attend SPC for a few different things: RN, Engineer transfer, Bio major, or public service academies.
Pinellas is also one of the most populous areas for kids aged 17-27. So everyone is fighting everyone, erm-...for everything.
I know over at Polk State they have a nursing program. 3.0 GPA acceptance, why? Because it is rural, in Winterhaven.
Just about at the 7 day mark. I think I read somewhere that they may let everyone know on Thursday (June 29) as they close early on Friday. I know I'm not going to be checking until Friday morning as I booked the day off work to either celebrate or drown my sorrows with my sweetie and friends.
Reading the thread, I must admit, I'm wondering what my chances are for getting in. I'm a Pinellas county resident, my gpa is strong; however, if there is a ton of 4.0 people applying then what are the chances really?? I guess we'll all find out next week! IF accepted I hope to be offered the day classes as it fits my currently study routine. Work during the day - study at night. I did do a switch last semester and I found that I study best at night time. At this point I'm in no rush to get my degree done - just as long as I get to the end goal of BSN that is all that matters. I also want to save my summer months for my other two courses to finish up the other degree. If I had a feel for how difficult and time consuming the first semester would be I'd just take one of them (probably the american government) as a night course to get it over with - but I don't want to compromise my study time for my nursing courses.
All I have to say is thank God for a full time job and summer classes. I've been adequately distracted by both thus far. 9 days guys - we got this!!!
Here is the link (I think) to calculate your points

I have been driving everyone and myself crazy too. I can't wait till hopefully June 30th! I'm convinced they will tell us that Friday since I believe they are closed on weekends. I'm super anxious, I have a 3.70 prereq. Hopefully this application cycle isn't as competitive as last fall. I would love to do night classes and graduate Dec. 2018
