HELP New grad job dilemma
Thanks everyone for their perspectives. Update: the 2nd job offer is looking more like a forsure thing! The nurse residency recruiter has reached out to me today with a little more info and has just requested references and a background check to do now via email. He said he'll touch base again with me Thursday and that I should be receiving the formal offer later this week. Kind of awkward reaching out to old instructors again asking for them to be a references. The 2nd place I could really see myself staying at long term and becoming closer with staff. I am still indecisive. My first day at job 1 is Monday and it looks like I may be quitting before I start it. I hate to waste job 1s time, tomorrow AM I am scheduled to go there for a health screening, drug test, picture ID, etc.

HELP New grad job dilemma
Thanks for the reply! I am now thinking more I should just stay with offer #1 and be grateful. After at least a year or so of experience more doors will open up at various locations close to my house. The other hospital had thrown an unexpected life curve ball at me, but I think it is best right now to just dodge it.

HELP New grad job dilemma
I graduated from nursing school in December and applied at various hospitals. I have received a job offer at the first place I had been interviewed December 1st at a hospital that appears to be great with awesome pay BUT it is about 1 hour & 15 mins from where I live (house with finance) BUT just 15mins away from where my family lives. I figured it was a great opportunity and that I could just stay part time a week with family. Program starts feb 11th and health screening paperwork etc feb 5th. No other hospitals close to me were having nurse residency programs, the hospitals that were were about 45mins-1 hour away so I decided to just not bother with any where else. Also it's day shift! +weekends Flash forward to this week I had received a super unexpected phone call to schedule a interview from a hospital 10 mins away from me was having a nurse residency program starting march! I went to the interview Monday and yesterday they gave me a verbal offer. They said HR will now continue the hiring process. The program would start march 4 and NIGHTS. I would love to work there being as it is so close to my house. It is a very small hospital but has many other locations vs my 1st job offer. I am terrified for what ever reason HR won't reach out to me or that the 2nd job offer will fall through and I will end up with nothing. What would you do? Stick with the 1st job offer and stay a year or so just for experience? OR take a chance with this new informal job offer?? It would be nice working days they go by so quick though I'm anticipating it being more stressful. I have never worked nights and picture it making my life a bit floppy but figure I could adjust and may be a nicer pace.

I'm also attending the workshop August 9th.. super excited & anxious. Everyone cherish these last days of freedom before classes start, my friend who's entering her last semester has warned me to 'say goodbye to your life, it's sooo time consuming and exhausting!! Really got to dedicate time to it even if you're too tired, it sucks.' Good luck everyone!

So it looks like I really will be switching to night classes this semester! :) I just got a phone call & email saying a night seat has become available. Northside nights. Unfortunately the professor is kerns w/ the bad ratings on rate my professor, but regardless I am accepting the seat. I am super determined to do well no matter what, really gonna take advantage of the resources at HEC, tutoring, workshops, etc. Update: it's official, they had just changed my schedule on myspc

SPC students applying for fall 2017??
Everything's good :) ended up switching back to Northside days, but really I'm fine with that. I was told I can forsure switch to nights next semester / the summer semester because of people dropping out and space will be available. (Really would like to graduate dec. 2018) I thought everyone was able to switch with those few seats still open on myspc - strange I was able to swap it, not sure why the system had allowed me to. My advisor didn't really know about the separate baycare only classes, but decided to switch back to avoid the possible issue. This thread made me anxious lol. I feel we all just need to relax, do some yoga, have a few drinks. Looks like they will be finding other alternates to fill those few open seats.
