Someone stole my shoes (somewhat of a rant)

Published

Sorry short rant...kind of funny as well.

After I work with a code brown pt (as well as lice, bed bugs, or anything contact related), I leave my work shoes outside my apt door (in a plastic bag hung on the door knob). I know, I should not leave my stuff outside my apt, but some of my neighbors leave their shoes outside the hallway and thought it was safe to do so. No one has ever touched them until recent.

The night before, I cared for someone w possible C.Diff (code brown). This evening found my bag of shoes went missing from my door knob...was going to bleach/wash them at the laundry mat in the morning...

Kind of feel guilty....Maybe should left a note "CAUTION: CONTAMINATED SHOES DO NOT TOUCH!" BTW, they were inexpensive kmart brand shoes so not a huge loss.

Oh wells, learned my lesson not to leave my shoes outside apt. Also, hope the person who took them practices good hand hygiene.

I hate to say it, but.....

Sweet justice lol.

I'm sorry but is laughing at this wrong? :roflmao: Karma is good if it teaches a lesson. Another possibility is that your shoes smelled to high heaven and a neighbor tossed them either because they smelled or because they believed someone was pranking you. I would ask the neighbors if any of their shoes have gone missing.

Hope the thief finds that the shoes fit!

I would not advertise that the shoes belong to a nurse. They might figure out what hours you work and who knows what might happen. Whoever took you shoes dissolves to get what ever germs they touched.

:roflmao: its mean but if they get sick its their fault for taking them in the first place.
Wonder what Karma is going to do with C. Diff?

The possibilities are endless.

I had a similar thought when my daughter decided to sneak her lip balm ring on her hand and sneak off to school with it. Of course on the playground someone asking if they can wear it and then refuse to give it back, stating, "I won't be your friend anymore if you don't let me keep it". So my five year old comes home crying because she lost the ring. He nose was running like crazy not just from being upset but because she had a really bad cold. I said, "Well, honey did you use the lip balm today?". My daughter says, through choked tears, "yes, mommy". I said, "It's okay honey. I'll get you a new one but it has to stay home. By the way, the bully will get their punishment in a couple days after they use your left over lip balm":sarcastic:

We had a problem with a 'lunch thief" where I worked once. Someone kept steeling other employees lunches. One nurse finally got tired of it and left a note on hers saying, "Do not steal my lunch again. If you do, I will know who you are as I have laced it with laxatives". The threat worked because at least no one took her lunch with that note attached to it.

Serves them right if they end up with cdif! lol They will think twice to take someone's shoes. lol

Hahaha I love that your first concern is the safety of the thief.

Somebody once put a brick through my windshield while I was out after a 3-11 shift with friends. They got a paper sack containing my shoes, dirty scrubs, dirty socks and a sweaty bra. It was January in Chicago, and I had to drive all the way home with no windshield. That was 30 years ago and I'm still pissed!

What if it was a perverted dude with a shoe fetish?
Let's all hope the C-diff shoe thief also has a pooping fetish...I think it's called coprophilia.

I always feel more sad than angry for people who steal necessities that have clearly been used. People who steal things like old shoes, a sweater or jacket, deodorant, towels, and other common items that are inexpensive but are needed for basic comfort/survival. We all fall down sometimes... I pray the person who needed those shoes does not come down with any illness. Y'all may think he/she deserves it, but why would you want someone who is already down on their luck to be even lower?
