Hi Everyone,
Just curious as to who will be working over xmas/new year. I'm working an afternoon shift (1430hrs - 2300hrs) on christmas day and the same shift on new years eve!! What luck
Anyway, to make the most of it, I'm spending christmas morning/lunch with my family before going to work. On new years eve, I'll work till 11pm and then party.
Oh well, at least the shift penalties will come in handy
So, anyone else working over xmas or the new year??
I am pulling a 48 hour call Xmas eve and Xmas day.I was on this last weekend and did 12 hours on Sunday then 12 on Monday. I just finished 14 straight on the eve. I work the OR and had two horrendous cases today! Hopefully tomorrow is quieter.
PS, I don't live where I work so I am not at home for the holidays. I live 8 hours away! Merry Christmas to all and to all a quiet shift. Mike
Thanks Mario.
And thanks to the great nurses that I worked with today-it was very good- and lots of cookies, dips and ham sandwhiches too.
And they scheduled me 7-1p instead of 7a-7p. Had a nice relaxing afternoon and evening with my family. Don't know about mixing Hospice nursing with LTC acute now though. I want to be the Hospice Fairy. La la la la.
Well this year I drew the line in the sand. I had worked every holiday for almost 2 years. So when I was scheduled for Labor day after requesting it off in april. Just the day mind you and was turned down so the MA could have another holiday off with her family, I quit. I now work Agency and love it for the most part. The last 2 weeks have been so much fun. The facility I usual work 40 hours a week at on the same area, I got to say when asked if I was working the 24th,25th,31st or the 1st and for the first time in 15 years I got to say "I DON'T WORK HOLIDAYS"
