Snow days

Published

When I was in high school I used to pray for snow days. Now everytime it snows and there is no school we have to make it up:rolleyes: So far we've got two days to make up but it looks like it's going to be a week at least before I can get out of here:eek: That's two clinical days and two lecture days:o

How does your school handle snow days?

I'm not too sure about how we're handlling it. The first snow day we had was this year, and it was on a Friday. There were no classes that day, and clinicals were made up by farming out students with other clinicals.

This week we have two snow days and had several assignments due, plus we missed group time to finish about a project due next week. Not sure if the project is still due next week or we'll get an extension.

The only other time we had classes canceled by school was 9/11. We missed the afternoon lectures but were sitll responsible for the material on the exam.

i'm with ya on hating snow days now. :(

we have missed 3 clinical days. plus we only have pharm one day a week. WE HAVE MISSED THE LAST 3 WEEKS IN A ROW!!!!! and there is only 4 weeks left in the quarter. we are behind 2 pharm exams and 1 lecture exam.

and i have no clue how we are gonna make them up but it's about to rough. :chuckle

We have never had a snow day....our school would not cancel if there were 3 feet of snow on the ground!!! Last week, we had clinical and it had snowed like 4 inches and was still snowing when we were driving...it took us like an hour to get to clinical (usually about 20 minutes)!!

Well, after almost three feet of snow and $30 for plowing later, I can get out of my driveway! You never know how much you like freedom until you can't get anywhere. Still don't know if our school is open tomorrow. I hope it is so that we don't have to make up any more days!!!

I know what you mean, so far this semester we've missed one clinical day and two days of lecture. The clinical day is ok because we had extra time scheduled in, but the lectures are being made up by coming in 1/2 to 1 hr early on other lecture days.

Is it almost spring yet?

They just announced that our school is closed tomorrow...another missed lecture. They still are not sure about thursday. If we miss Thursday, that's a clincial day....I really hope that they are open that day...don't feel like giving up spring break!!

Are all you guys living on the east coast that are having all these snow days? I am in a suburb of Chicago and although we have lucked out snow wise this year.... They never cancel school!!! My kids had a Heat day once, but no snow days in the last 5 years.

I really don't want one cause I can't imagine making up stuff!

I live in Delaware and so far just this past week, we;ve gotten almost 4 feet (or more in some areas) of snow.

I'm in southern New Jersey and we got about a foot and a half of snow from this storm...but with the wind we had there are drifts in some places that are 4+ feet high. My parents down in Dover, DE got about the same. My school was closed Monday and Tuesday (both lecture nights for me) but today they are open. I was hoping not to miss another day. Making up those two nights is going to suck.

I'm in Dover, De. I don't know if we have to make up missed days or not. I think it would be pretty much impossible. The summer semester starts almost right after the spring semester ends. Plus, graduation day is already set. I know Delaware doesn't have a mandatory amount of clinical time to graduate, so I hope we don't have to make that time up. I have missed 2 clinical days already this week & one of them was in Wilmington (nearly an hour away!). You would think I would have extra time to study this week, but the children are driving me NUTS!!!!! :)

Lisa :)

snlisa,

I'm also in Dover and go to clinicals in Christiana. However, our clinicals are on Thurs and Fri so we don't have to miss any of them. They just announced that most of the public schools here are closed tomorrow so I'm hoping that they don't cancel clinicals.
