Hi there! I'm new to allnurses. I was wondering if anyone in the Student Nurse Practitioner forum is either currently enrolled at Simmons or is anyone out there waiting to get in? I applied last week for the September 2016 Cohort, and just received notice yesterday that my application has been sent in for faculty review. Anyone else sitting on pins and needles like me! LOL! Thanks for any feeback *Sorry if this topic has already been covered

Haha, that's great. I'm sure you'll get in. At this point I'm leaning toward applying for next May bc I'm not sure I can work full-time and go to school part-time while my husband is currently going back to school full-time and also working full-time. We also have a young family. I am very excited to go back so waiting till next year is not my preference but it may be wiser. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes for you.
I can tell you that it seems like there are a lot of people going part time while working full time and they're handling it! I'm not sure how many of them have families though. I have a young family too and a part-time job, and wherever I go I'll do part-time. My BSN was insanely difficult and time consuming though, so I don't want to get in a similar stressed out situation. I don't want to miss anything :)
Hello All,
Im also new to All Nurses. I applied to the May 16 Cohort Feb 25th and am just nervous! My application is with faculty. Its my dream school to attend, I know a few people who had graduated from the FNP program and are so confident and well prepared. I just cant wait to hear back! How was everyone's application process? Did your counselor tell you how long decisions take? Any other ideas about funding school other that Nurse Corps?
Hello there. I found out within days of my submission and am accepted in the September cohort. I never took a chemistry course so I have to take a biology bridge course in May. The process with Simmons has been excellent! Everyone is friendly and helpful and really go out of their way to make sure the experience is a positive one right from the get go! I can see why they produce well prepared NPs!
Yes, it's a wonderful school and staff are caring and really want you to do well. I also didn't take Chemistry only A&P and Micro so bridge might or might not be an option. Keeping my fingers crossed. If you don't mind can you share your GPA and things u had that made them accept you. My fear is I don't have much experience but I love the fact they look at you as a whole.
I was recently accepted for the November 2016 cohort. I will be attending PT and plan on working FT as long as I can. I know I may have to go PT at work once clinicals start. One thing I really like about the program is the online format and that Simmons helps students with clinical placements, however I'm a little nervous about the cost of the program...

2 years of critical care experience and TNCC, ACLS, and PALS certifications
4.0 GPA for my BSN
It took a couple of days to receive my admission decision.

This is what I'm curious about. I also have a young family and a husband in a Master's program while working full-time. I will definitely be going back to school, it's really just figuring out the timing and whether to wait until he is done and if I should wait until my full-time contract is over and go part-time at work while completing graduate school. Thanks for the info!
