Should I take Physiology in the summer?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

the college i attend offers physiology during the summer; it’s an 8 week class. i’m not sure if i should take it. my first instinct was “i’m taking it!” my anatomy teacher says he thinks i can do it and a few others do as well. but then my counselor and other students think it’s a mistake. i’m currently unemployed and have no children so i will have time to focus and study. i’m currently getting a a in anatomy and i receive a b in microbiology. any thoughts?

8 weeks seems doable to me. My school has 5 week summer classes and there is no way I'd take a 5 week lab class but some students do.

Go for it if you feel you can do it. Don't let anyone put doubts in your mind. Yes, it will take focus and studying but you're doing real well in anatomy and there's no reason to think you won't be able to make it.

I don't think you'll have a problem BUT if you do, audit the class.

Good luck!

I'd do it. Heck, I have a toddler and a job and I was STILL looking for a physiology class to take last summer :lol2:

If you know you can do it you should definitely go for it!

its little bit hard but u can do it!!!

Well since you are unemployed and dont have any kids I would say go for it. You need to be 100% focused though. I think its doable. If you had kids and or a job I would tell you its not a good idea. Science coursed during the summer are intense.

Definitely a course you can take over the summer. Focusing only one course during the summer will be great.. your A IN A&P proves you can do it...believe in yourself..

I took Anatomy and Physiology + Med Term in an 8week summer course, while working 40 hours a week. You have no reason you can't do it. Just stay focused. Good Luck!

(...Although, I sure wish I could have enjoyed the sun a little more that summer. )

The only reason Why I am concerned is because there is only a 39% pass rate for physiology at my college.

Specializes in Student.

Go for it, it was alot of memorization but your other grades show you are up to the challenge.

Have you looked at "rate my professor" to see if you can figure out why the low pass rate? I used it

before I figured out my schedule for pre-reqs. Be sure to look at all the reviews, some are sour grapes becaue they beeded to actually put some effort into getting the grade.

I didn't want to waste a minute to get thru the pre-reqs

I did it during the summer and got an A. It was a 10 week course though. I had 3 kids at the time (4 now lol). If you have no kids and have the time to devote to it and also have been getting good grades then I dont see why you cant do it. GL!!
