Nurses are highly trained professionals that make positive impacts in peoples lives every day. So are plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and any other worth while profession. I am soooo over nurses whining about not being appreciated and the over glorification of nursing and nurses. I am NOT that needy and don't think it's a good look for us.
Hehehe I wonder how many guys bailed around post #41??
I finished with all that nonsense about 7 years ago.
The peri-menopause years were Hell. Had to stop wearing tampons because they leaked after about an hour, and on really fun days actually got pushed out due to the weight of the clots.
Went 10 months without a period, thought "Yes!! Only two more to go!!" Month eleven? All ten months in one night. Saw the doc-Hgb of 7 (my daughter said I had no lips I was so pale), mega Iron supplements for awhile.
But, those are just fond memories now, and I am so glad I can walk right past that aisle at WalMart.
Anywho....
I do agree that many nurses seem to like being martyrs and think that being miserable at work, means they are a better nurse.
I have been chewed out more than once by family members who were ready to take their family member home when I told them the doc was still writing orders so I was going to eat and would do the discharge when I returned. This usually happens around 2-3pm and I ask how many times they have eaten that day.
A girl's gotta eat.
I also don't hesitate to tell people grabbing me in the hall for simple tasks that I'm on my way to the restroom and they should go in their room and push the call button.
No job pays enough for you to compromise your health.
I admit that there are times when there is no pee, water, food break and I'm inhaling peanut butter in the pantry while pouring a cup of coffee for someone.

I second this whole post. After developing contact dermatitis with several brands of tampons, I discovered and love the instead cups.
