I like being a nurse but the hours make it so hard to meet somebody. I work every other weekend, nights and holidays. It seems as though every nurse I know who is married or in a relationship met their spouses prior to becoming a nurse or on the job (not possible for me). I am not super social and between my ft and prn hospital jobs, I just don't feel like I have time to meet someone especially with night shift.
I really want to have kids someday too.
Anyone else have this problem? Any tips?
Yeah...video games are fine. I'll study while a guy is playing them. I'll join too if he doesn't mind losing horribly! But dropping out of college and playing video games all day long? The next move for that guy is in his mom's basement.
Yeah...it wouldn't be bad as a hobby but the way these young ones talk about wanting to make videogames their career...no thanks!
I might have to. But how much? My upper limit is 35.
I know a 35 year old video game addict. His marriage actually failed, and a HUGE part of it was video games. It was almost unreal. He literally would not come home at night because he "lost track of time" with video games at friends' houses. He literally would still be married today if it weren't for his addiction. I still can't really believe it actually.
So maybe 60?

Depends...is he a billionaire with no heirs and a year away from his death bed?
I relocated from NC to GA for my first job out of nursing school because I couldn't find a job in ICU where I lived... and I am dating the guy who moved my furniture. It's so funny to think that my life would have been TOTALLY different if I had picked a different moving company that year. I can't even imagine what I would be doing now or where I would be!
So...
Move and hire a moving company! That worked for me.
I met my husband on Tinder, it can happen! And to think, I used to knock online dating. :)
One of my coworkers met someone on Tinder. She is now a travel nurse traveling to the area he landed his residency in. So yes, she's dating a newly minted MD - but not one she met at work. Go figure.
I met my partner on okcupid... I never liked match.com because it would show me pictures of women and be like, "You both like cats!" Yo, that is not the basis of a solid relationship. Or, worse, "you're both wine connoisseurs!" No, I drink Bota Box, and why is wine listed as a hobby anyway? And why isn't beer on there? Why is skiing listed but hiking isn't? ... anyway. I liked okcupid because of all the questions. Worked for me so far.
Regarding people not going out anymore... I'm in class all day Tuesday, in clinic 12 hours on Monday and Wednesday, and work every weekend. That leaves me two days per week to catch up on homework, spend time with my family, and hang out with existing friends. My life doesn't lack social interaction, it lacks free time. If I meet someone by random chance who seems interesting I'll ask them out, but I don't date coworkers, my cohort in school is 11 people and none of them single, and I'm too busy in clinic to talk to anyone but my preceptor and patients. So, I let okcupid filter out all the people who are glaringly obviously wrong for me (like answering yes to the question about wanting to date someone of the same race) to save me time. If someone has a better way to meet 5-6 women with whom I have multiple things in common every single week for a year, I'd like to hear it.
I can give you the lowdown on several online dating sites. I met my fiancé on Match.com. I also did Zoosk and OkCupid. I cast a large net!!!!
You have a very strict screening process. I started with messaging on the site, then they may make it to texting, if you still seemed normal, I would do some actual phone calls. Then, they could make it to a first date. All of my first dates took place in a very public place. I still had not-so-normals make it to that!!! I think less than 5 guys made it to a second date. Out of them came 2 relationships, one of them my fiancé, another a guy I dated for 6 months.
I made a lot of friends from online dating, they just weren't the ones. Okcupid, I only met one guy on. We went on one date, and we are actually still friends. He's a lawyer and a decent guy.", he just couldn't figure out what he wanted in life, and honestly, I wasn't going to wait. Zoosk, had a lot of weird guys on it. I ditched it after going on a couple of first dates but not connecting. It was hard to find guys who actually even had jobs on that site. I wasn't really impressed.
What I learned from it all is the more expensive sites is where you will find the more serious guys. EHarmony took too long to sign up. I like to look at the pics and read the profiles and go from there. I don't need a computer to try and match me. I want to match me!!!!
The guy I dated for 6 months I also met on Match. Even though our relationship didn't work, we are still good friends. I was about to give up when I met my fiancé. My account was a week away from expiring. He messaged me and it went from there!!!!
You have to give it a good chance. It's not an instant process. You can pm me if you ever want tips on how to screen or which profiles to ignore. Or even if you want to hear some wild stories because I have them!!!!
But in the end, I met my best friend and partner in crime online. And I never would have met him if I hadn't gone online. I don't do bars and I don't have time to go do adventurous things and who meets at the grocery store anymore? I know it's hard, but sometimes, you gotta put yourself out there, and in this day and age, that place is the Internet.
