I got a gift bag with 1 jolly rancher 2 single lifesavers 1 mini twizler one poorly printed ink pen and a coupon for 1 32 0z regular tea. They did also have a drawing for about 10 gift baskets but no one in my department got one. This is they best year we had last year was nothing at all we didn’t even know it was nurses week
I got scissors, a flashlight, and a pen. All things I already had in versions I prefer, but it's always good to have backups. Tons of candy at the nurse's station. They did feed us all kinds of food every night for a week, which was a nice break from the sorry lunches I pack myself every shift. All in all, not too bad - at least it wasn't a rock!

I'm sure that there are people at every organization that truly feel a sense of gratitude for the work that nurses do and they want to make a Nurses Week show of appreciation. But we all know that sometimes they fall short (I think I remember someone posting that they got a rock one year?!) Did your place of work come through with a thoughtful gift or did they fall short this year? Do you have a favorite or a frustration?
One of the hospitals I'm at is giving all staff (everyone in the building not just nurses but whatever) a fleece. We could choose a hospital fleece or one with the health system on it. It will keep me warm in an emergency since I'll probably keep it in the back of my car, I'm not huge on free advertisement for the hospital. The other hospital did give us a relatively nice thermal mug.
But once again, one hospital considered it a gift for a food truck to come to the hospital. Not that they bought anything off the truck for nurses, but they coordinated for the (expensive) truck to park there on day shift for a few hours. Us night shifters got an ice cream bar, but I heard from others that most nurses didn't have time to go wait in line for the truck so there were lots of suits out there. Nice try.
Hope you all got a good chuckle if not a real reward.
