Share you A&P mnemonics!

I thought it would be nice to have a collection point for A&P mnemonics. Some people find these really helpful. I don't have any yet, but I will share mine when I come up with them.

Oh and I just found this site on accident when I was googling mnemonics to make sure I spell it right.

MedicalMnemonics.com

Here is one for the vertebrae:

There are 7 cervical, 12 thoracic, and 5 lumbar...

(not including the sacrum).

To remember this: most people eat breakfast at 7, lunch at 12 and dinner at 5

This is pretty simple but I hope that it might help someone!

The cranial nerve one I learned was:

Oh (olfactory)

Oh (optic)

Oh (oculomotor)

To (trochlear)

Touch (trigeminal)

And (abducens)

Feel (facial)

Very (vestibulocochlear)

Green (glossopharyngeal)

Vegtables (vagus)

A(accessory) H (hypoglossal) !!!!!

Specializes in LDRP.

the bones of the wrist (carpals)

sad = scaphoid

lonely = lunate

travis = triqutral

pushes = pisiform

his = hamate

cart = capitate

through = trapezoid

texas = trapezium

start on the bottom row and scaphoid is closest to the thumb no matter which hand it is.

a mnemonic for remembering cranial nerve function in relation to sensory (s), motor (m) or both (b).

you need to know the cranial nerves first before this will make much sense. cn's i - xii in order.

"some say marry money, but my brother says marrying money bad business."

there are some filthy versions that will violate tos, but you can google and find them.

I keep mixing up Crural and Sural. Does anyone have any tricks for that?

Get it straight in your head girl. We offer help, not miracles.

Bumping this back to the top....this is going to come in handy in a few wks....I just found out that my new A&P book contains some mnemonics...as I come accross them, I will post them on-line here.

PoshGirl, did you get the Crual and Sural down? Wish I could offer some advice.

Sorry if this web site is already posted, but it is a great web-site:

I'm studying the cellular level. Here is what I have so far.

Cell Cycle

    "Go Sally Go! Make Children!"
    G1, S, G2, M, C
    Growth phase 1, DNA Synthesis (replication), Growth phase 2, Mitosis, Cytokinesis.

Mitosis

    "People Meet And Talk", or
    "PMAT"
    Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase.

That's the site that I use for bones. I could use some that help to remember the nerves. I guess I need to refer to it again.

where is the one for bones? cant find it

For the cranial nerves our mnemonic in class was

O

O

O

TO

TOUCH

AND

FEEL
