sex in the work place...really?

Nurses Relations

Published

So I'm watching television.... nursing and hospital shows of course...and they are always showing someone in these shows who is in love with another nurse, or doctor and they always end up having sex while in the hospital. My question is does this really go on at the workplace? How many of you have witness this, heard about it happening, or was one of the parties involved?:yeah:

Back in the Jurassic age, before computers, video surveillance, and cell phones, I actually dated a doc or two. There were on-call rooms scattered around. We knew where the more 'remote' ones were located........

you guys dated in the remote rooms??

you hot ticket, mama.:yeah:

Ooooo, the stories I could tell. We had a married doctor that was a known skirt chaser, who literally prowled the halls looking for his next conquest.

And....we had nurses willing to throw themselves at him, hoping to break up his marriage. He was fun to look at, no doubt....but....ugh..... he was a sleaze bag.

Still, l there were young, naive, nurses, who only saw a good looking man...with tons of money.

His marriage ended quite dramatically.....with his sobbing wife, crying her heart out about his infidelity......on Oprah......yes, Live TV......

That day was memorable.....to say the least.

So, was that how she met him?

My observation about work and sex is that the people who do that kind of thing are the ones that most people wouldn't want to do it with anyway.

In facilities where I have worked before, this happened pretty often. Either staff-staff or MD-staff, MD-MD, u name it. In linen closets, store rooms, BR, and even in a patient's BR once. The staff both thought the pt was comatose, but they should have paid a little more attention, because he got an earful!

My dh and I are both nurses and were working together when dating. but no one knew we were even dating, much less "getting busy". I mean, exactly HOW would someone list that facility as a reference when they are looking for another job???!!

Ha! That brings back memories. I dated a res back in the day and we also knew the remote on-call rooms. I cringe now to think of it.

I also worked with a doc who we (the hospital unit) hated because he was such a jerk to all of us. We knew he was fooling around on his wife (a hospital administrator) because we'd call him in the middle of the night and he'd say things like "I'm coming in as soon as I get cleaned up." He was cheating with a office worker in his clinic, and her husband caught wind of it, and walked in on the doc in an exam room and beat the holy snot out of him. Two of the other docs had to pull him off. I would have paid a hundred bucks to see it. He got fired that day. Ain't karma a witch?

Are you sure no one knew you two were dating? The reason I ask is because I thought my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were being cool about it, too. Although we weren't breaking any of the rules, we still thought it would be best to keep it under wraps. So, when we had gotten engaged, I came clean to my co-workers. They were sorta like, "Finally...we wondered when you were going to admit to dating him."

What we didn't realize was our body language. We stood a tad too close to each other, as opposed to other people who were just coworkers. That's how we also figured out a couple who were breaking the supervisor-subordinate rule, but who stupidly denied, denied, denied. She eventually got fired for it, and he left on his own. It could have all been avoided if one of them had just asked for a transfer...

No, she wasn't in the medical field, she was his 2nd or 3rd wife, and knew about his proclivities before she married him, which was the subject matter on Oprah that day. "He was cheatin' when you married him...fool..."

My husband was at work & called me at home...."turn on Oprah...NOW!!!!"

I don't know if this was her way of getting back at him, or if she was dumb enough to think public humiliation would save their marriage.

Somehow I doubt it helped.

i used to think that was gross...but all of you (especially leslie :-D) just made it seem cool...i would be graduating pretty soon, and would definitely add to that statistics... now i see why that big booty nurse gives me that look

I have seen it--twice. I worked at a small rural hospital where we had contract physicians working the ER on weekends. One of them took a shine to the head of RT and one night I went to wake him up for a consult and lo! and behold, I see her feet hanging off the bed!~ I very quickly backed up and SHOUTED through the doorway. Then I ran~

The second was much sleazier. It was this OB/GYN who had been married 4 times and was quite the ladies man. On weekends he would hole up in the doctors' sleep room with whoever his current fling was, usually someone from L&D or Nursery. He would put furniture across the doorway so nobody could get in and they'd go at it. Ewwww.

oh yea, I heard about a few...OR room on surgical table(ick), dr lounge why?, bathroom, dark room..sleep room...I think the people that I used to work with had way too much time on their hands:uhoh3:...
