Hi everyone..
I just scheduled my exam awhile ago and finally taking it this September 15, 2008.
I was looking for the September 2008 Support Group and found their is none in existence so i figured to start one.
I am currently on Saunder's 4th Ed. and some other references like, Exam Cram, Illustrated Study Guide for the NCLEX-RN Exam, Prioritization, Delegation Assignment by Linda LaCharity and other Q and A books by Saunder's and Mosby.
But i am focusing more on Saunder's, i just like to have other references to understand topics which i am weak in.
I wasn't a very good student before or wasn't that much focus with my studies while in school. That's why i am very anxious now with my upcoming exam.
Now I am giving my best in my review and hoping and praying that i may pass it on the first try.
I really want and dreampt of becoming an RN and finally i am a test closer to becoming one.
Good Luck to us and God Bless.
Hey guys, I just got back from taking NCLEX. I had 75 questions, and was done in 40 min. I had 3 math questions, 14 SATA, one picture (identifying a rhythm strip). I had alot of infection control, Psych, OB, prioritization, and pt teaching. I didn't have a single question on delegating, and all of my meds were easy heart med or antibiotics that I knew. I'm just a little worried because my last question was an easy one about a drug allergy. I feel pretty good about my test, but I'll feel better once I have a lisence number!
hey toniann..i'm very sorry to hear the news. if it gives you alittle bit of comfort others have failed more then once including myself. this will be my 3rd time taking the test. right now i know exactly how you feel..you don't want to go back to seeing that dreaded nclex reveiw book and your frustrated thinking about the time you spent in order to prepare. it's soooo true what others have said, take a break for a week. clear your mind, erase any negative thots about the past and start off fresh with a new energy and attitude ready to pass! i suggest that you don't dwell on time..i waited way too long when i found out that i failed and when i got back into focus i had forgotten the things i reveiwed and needed to start from step1 again. don't be like that, take a week off then get back in the game. i pray for strength and determination for you in order to pass. we can do this, don't ever give up! keep beleiving future rn!! :loveya:
oh man...i failed again. think i'm gonna try suzanne's plan and take the test again as soon as possible!!!!

Michee, I just tested today too, and am awaiting results. We both need to stay positive and confident that we will be RN's!!
I don't think anyone ever feels truly prepared. How are you scoring on practice qustions? Because, IMO, more importnant than retaining information is being able to critialy think and answer those higher level questions. *hugs* :icon_hug:
The ones on the learningext site I'm scoring 60's and 70's which isn't very good. One I score 41, re-read the material and the rationales and scored 100. I am either a) reading too much into the questions and over analyzing them, or b) not reading it enough and not really understanding what the question is asking. Of course there is c) I'm braindead and haven't a clue anymore. The delegating questions seem straight forward enough, but why I get them wrong I don't know. Then I get a medication question right, on a med I haven't a clue what it is exactly I might add.
When I had access to Kaplan's q-trainers I scored 55-63% on the ones I completed. I am hoping my employer will pay for another Kaplan review so I can do those questions too.
I just don't want to take the test a week after I start work and fail, losing my provisional license and possibly said new job.

I'm not familiar with Learningext, but I know with Kaplan they say a 60 or above is doing good. It sounds like with Kaplan, at least, you're fairly prepared. Is Learningext more knowledge based, meaning you have lower level of questions? I know when I would do Saunders I would sometimes not do that great, becaus the questions would be straight knowledge based.
