  1. cost of living in houston is not bad at all. you will need a car though to get around. you can live in the medical center and get around on the metro rail or bus but to go anywhere else, you will need a car. renting ranges, but you can look it up on har.com. i don't know the prices around the med ctr...most people buy around here because its about the same, so why not invest...but i would rent first. houston's med ctr is in need of nurses. and they are opening up hospitals in the suburbs as well. many offer sign on bonuses as well. do your research and see whats best for you.
  2. I'm from Houston and McAllen is south of Texas near the border I think... Well I'm a new grad, just passed the boards in Sept and I got hired at Texas Children's Hospital NICU 3 along with about 3 other new grads. I know there are a few other hospitals that do graduate nurse internships like st josephs and the women's hospital as well.
  3. many congrats to you too then!!!

  9. hi guys... i love the support on here. so i test tomorrow at noon. this will be my second time around. i didn't take kaplan the first time, and did this time. i think it has helped me. so i was feeling confident everyday...and now i'm feeling super scared. anxiety is getting to me. uughhh. questions running through my mind like, did i do enough questions, do i know enough content, what if i fail again? please pray for me and keep me in your thoughts for tomorrow...i know that i need to keep positive thoughts in my mind...but its kind of hard. i am married with 3 girls and i want to make them proud. they've been through enough with me when i was going to school and now...i just want to defeat this! thanks again for all the support. my prayers go out to all of you as well. and i will surely let you all know how i do on wednesday (quick results).
