I thought I would start a thread for applicants to the 2016 MSN for Non-Nurses: Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion at Seattle University. I am applying for the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. Any other applicants for this cycle? Questions and comments regarding the program and admissions process are welcome!
It seems to me like there are multiple wait lists and everyone is on some kind unless they're accepted hah. Like I think there's a waitlist for people who were interviewed and then a waitlist as well for people who applied but were not interviewed. and I know you can't get in without an interview. So confusing and strange
I've been accepted to Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston (also a direct entry masters for non-nurses). Unfortunately I have to pay a $500 downpayment before March 9th in order to hold my spot. I'd prefer to go to Seattle U as the Pacific Northwest is where I belong and SU is a stellar program, but I'm certainly not going to miss the boat on attending any school just to avoid paying $500 to an institution I may not attend. It sucks to hear so many people are in similar situations as far as paying a downpayment.
As for Seattle U, I'm trying to stay positive especially after being told my application scored in the top 10 as far as raw application score, but I was disappointed in my inability to convey my passion for SU during the interview portion. At this point it looks very likely that I'll be attending MGHIHP. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic. Hope everyone is staying happy and positive!
@Oregonian89 - Congratulations! I think you're making a wise decision in regard to MGH and $500. I also had to make a down payment to another program as their deadline to hold a spot was Feb 15th!
If you were a top 10 in a raw score, DO NOT be hard on yourself about the interview. That is an amazing position to be in. Great job! May I ask what your essay entailed (volunteer? UG experience? Real world? Personal?)
I hope you hear from SU before March 9 so you can stay where you want to be. However, Boston is awesome, and I think they have a wonderful program. Good luck!
Did they tell you before or after your interview about your application ranking? I'm wondering if other people were told similar things. Now I'm freaking out because they didn't even mention my application. And of course freaking out after the interview because of the things I wish I would have said. Sigh, now the waiting...
@woodlee9 Yep, I included all of the things you mentioned. I concentrated more on my personal statement than any other part of the application, and i spent several weeks revising it.
@Tired-o-waiting I was told in the waiting room just before my interview. I was interviewed with 9 other people on the first day of interviews which was used for the top 10 applicants.
@RBCC I plan on calling SU (probably next week). I don't want to rush them as I know they're busy. I'm not too optimistic but I'd reaaaaaally like to go to SU. Let me know if you hear anything.
@lalalikelife Congratulations!!!!! that is extremely exciting! Did you get a call or an email? Any word on whether or not they're sending out invites for other tracks? I know the community health track is slightly different, but I wonder if the timelines differ quite a bit.
Hey Oregonian,
I received an email stating a decision was available through my online app portal, not on the app tracker, but the actual application. It said, "congratulations! You've been admitted!" And then I started screaming. Nah, not really, but I was excited.
I'm guessing that because my track is relatively small and all interviews are done, we're hearing first. No info on other tracks, I know everyone else is waiting... Good luck to you all! Can't wait to meet the APNI cohort in Seattle!

Has anyone heard about the CNM results? I emailed Ben and he told me I was "waitlisted for the CNM track". Not sure what that means but I apply to the program on a whim but I'd like to know.
