Seattle University APNI 2016 Applicants

Published

I thought I would start a thread for applicants to the 2016 MSN for Non-Nurses: Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion at Seattle University. I am applying for the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. Any other applicants for this cycle? Questions and comments regarding the program and admissions process are welcome!

@husky2k16 If all goes according to plan, there should be at least one faculty member and one current student in the interview. There may be an additional current student or faculty member, but there shouldn't be more than three people because they don't want to overwhelm you. As for whether they've read your application, assume they haven't so that you feel free to highlight your strengths again.

Hey guys! just had my interview, ahh so nervous. It was with three people, two faculty and one current CNM student. There were only a few questions which I was surprised about. The first question kind of threw me off, they asked what does being an RN mean to you. I figured they would ask more about my speciality! Happy to have it over with, nervous now for the next month.

Littlefeets: thanks for the scoop! I appreciate your honesty and specifics about your experience!

any FNP interviews today? Did they ask the same questions?

Anyone hear from FNP on more interviews?

I am new to this board, but as anxious as the rest of you all! It is very nice to have others understand this awful feeling!

I applied to the FNP track. I did my undergrad in psychology and community health and have taken pre-req's while working as a CNA and at a psychiatric office.

I haven't heard back yet and have been confused about the email regarding interviews. Will they reach out if you are not invited to interview? It seems late now to be called to interview but it sounds like this is normal for SU?

Wishing everyone luck!

!

I haven't been contacted for an interview yet either. My understanding is that all interviews are conducted and then after final review applicants receive accepted/rejected/waitlist letters. So probably sometime in March? From these boards and speaking to a current student of the program last minute notification of interviews is normal for SU and you shouldn't give up hope about being contacted until all the interview dates have actually passed (End of Feb.).

@verene CNA Thank you for the response. I actually just spoke with a representative on the phone and she was very nice and forthcoming about how overwhelmed and busy they are working on applications now. The faculty is still reviewing and she was honest about the random order in which they are doing things. She even looked me up to verify that they were still viewing my application *though if they use the same system as our portal that doesnt say too much.

The waiting continues!

That's good news, I guess! Better to know there are still reviews being done rather than just waiting for the rejection letter! (I too am patiently waiting for an interview for FNP).

Thank you @wojo8 for calling them! Do you know who you spoke with, by chance? Also, welcome to the forum!

Hello,

I was an applicant for SU Advanced Community Public Health APNI, but have not gotten a call for an interview. I also applied to PLU and got my acceptance call 5 days ago. At this point would it be safe to assume I've been waitlisted or that I didn't get in to SU? I applied last year to Psych APNI at SU, but was denied.

Not necessarily! It seems as though they haven't even gotten through all the applications yet. And according to friends of mine who have finished the program, you can get asked for an interview up until the end of February. Don't lose hope! I'm in the same boat. I applied to Psych and haven't heard anything back yet.

I am feeling (a bit) relieved that they are still contacting people. I am from fairly far away, so I was getting anxious about hearing!

I am not sure who I spoke with, she was a soft spoken woman- super nice and very understanding!

And thanks for the welcome! Like I said, nice to have people in the same boat.

Just wanted to share with you guys info that I received after my interview for FNP on 2/6. The FNP track lead professor said that FNP interviews would be carried out throughout February and decisions will be notified any time from March - mid March.
