Season's Greetings to allnurses!

Updated:   Published

Even though I retired from nursing this past Spring and am heavily involved in my art, allnurses continues to be my favorite website. And General Nursing is my favorite forum.

I come here to identify with nurses & their situations, to recall my own, offer advice and/or support when I can, to learn, and to continue to feel a sense of belonging & camaraderie.

So, I want to send Season's greetings to all the members, mods & and administrators, and my friends on allnurses with the gift of a GIF:

All I want for Christmas is a multi-million dollar winning lottery ticket.

Wasn't that the name of a novelty Christmas song?

Oh my gosh, I remember watching this as a kid in the 60's too, now I feel ancient! Our TV looked like that too but (I think) it was color. (And I have to say that I sometimes miss those easy to use TV's). My parents had one in their bedroom too so when they had friends over all us kids got to go in there and watch with snack, it was a treat for sure, good times. Thx for the trip down memory lane!

I have this thing for dates. Every now and then, Rooty Payne Psych Tech would throw out random months and dates and I would tell him what was going on in my life.

I saw my first color TV at my Great Aunt's place in the Spring of 1964. I was unimpressed because it looked like black & white TV with horizontal hold color lines running through it. The first really cool color TV I saw was in 1968 at some friends of my parents. We watched the Smothers Brothers!

My parents bought their first color TV in 1973 and I got to put the old black and white TV in my room. Now, that was something!

And, thank you for the trip down Memory Lane, Daisy!

Dave, I’ve watched Rudolph every year since it came out. I was 5. Never missed it in 56 years. It—unlike humans—never gets old. ?

Isn't that something, Marla- it never gets old? Like The Wizard of Oz!

Every year, The Wizard of Oz would be announced to be played and the whole family would be sure to watch it!

Referring back to black & white TV, I never realised the Horse of a Different Color actually changed colors until I saw the movie on a color TV!

@Davey Do

TIP: Compress your animated gifs by up to 50% using a third party service such as https://www.iloveimg.com/.

I was able to compress your XMAS gif (on 1st post) by 46% (4.86 mb vs 2.67 mb)! Important because the lighter the file the faster it is to download - very important for mobile users.

Thanks @Joe

I'm a real neophyte at this GIF thing. I went to the iloveimg, compressed the Money For Nothing GIF, and saved it in my video file. When I attempted to upload the GIF from my file, I got a popup that said it wasn't allowed.

I would really like to learn how to compress the files, especially because other websites have a restriction on the amount of data which can be uploaded.

I usually downsize my GIFs on imgflip to about 300x300 pics for relatively easy viewing. I've also noted that the black & white GIFs take less data, so I create those as much as possible.

Thanks again, Joe, and do have Happy AN Holiday!

Which one is the "Money For Nothing" gif???

If it's the last one directed to NurseBlaq that didn't load. It's not even attached (in case you attached it). Bad url

Hmmm.... It was showing up on my computer- I had to edit it since I neglected to add some images, so I re-uploaded it.

Also: I noted that  the max size of files that can be uploaded on AN is 48.83MB and my GIFs are usually about 2MB, so will downsizing really do all that much?

Thanks again!
